Good stuff AOM... hope you enjoyed it. My brother was at the stadium (Stadium Australia). I'll be in Sydney in a few weeks - just not in time for the olympics :(

For some reason I have little interest in the Olympics at this moment. About 3 months ago I was ready to watch some serious US ass whooping of the world. Unfortunately, the Olympics started 3 months to late for me to get psyched about it. Maybe I'll watch it but I don't really care about it.

I usually like to watch the Opening Ceremonies on TV, but this year I completely lost interest. Thanks in no small part to my new infatuation with UT, I probably won't be watching much of these Olympic Games. You gotta have your priorities straight when it comes to Games! ;)

I didn't watch much either... and I am not sure how much of the regular stuff I will watch because the damn time diff between here and aussie sucks :(

hehe - just remember lads that the US may end up with the most medals, but on a per capita basis it is not so flash <g>

The ceremony was what I expected i.e. boring. The highlight was when the flame refused to rise to the top of the stadium :) I will not be watching most of the events because I think they are pointless. I will however be watching the track and field evens, they are the most exciting.

True hypnos - the ceremonies are probably loved by those hard-core ceremony-watching-types, but really, just like any fireworks display you see, they are all the same in the end...

Of course - Sydney will be the best Olympics ever, with the best opening ceremony... until the next Olympics comes round... and so it goes on etc (heh - aren't I the cynic tonight) :)

Geez you guys are cynics! I watched most of the opening ceremonies ... although a bit long at times, I thought it was very well done, at times touching and emotional. I definitely had goose bumps a time or two.

The thing that sucks as an American is the tape delay factor. We won't get to see anything until 12+ hours later, and in this Internet age it'll be impossible to avoid knowing the results beforehand (see Collateral's post above). Takes away some of the drama. Oh well. I'll still try to watch a lot.

I live in Toronto, Canada(from the US0fA(for a coupla years. Dad's transfer). We just moved here a week back and have no CAble TV yet! Nice city but delayed cable. Getting it this Monday. So therefore no opening ceremonies. But then again, this IS the age of reruns!
