Weap Models, New in 3.0?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. Alright, don't slaughter me yet, I read the
roadmap and I think I remember reading something about having new models implemented
for the pre-existing weapons. True?

Overall I think the models are great, I just think that the way some of them are placed on the screen make them look bad, like the PSG for example.

BTW. The mod is honestly the best I've ever seen,(surpassing a certain mod for Unreal 1 named Serpentine)

serp isn't that bad of a mod, it lacks things just like INF lacks things like:

steyr aug
better grenades
bullet weight (which has its times)
blood on arm

serp need some:

better fudging graphics
more weapons
a real anti-tank launcher, not the nuke like it has


and that backblast has, for the first time, saved my life! poor ol' bot. hehe

Welp, FYI, we're using all the NATO standard FMJ bullets and their corresponding weights.
a.i.

9mm - 125 grains
5.56x45 - 63 grains(SS109)
7.62x51 - 147 grains
7.62x39 - 123 grains
etc

you get the picture. If you really want it, I'll add an AMMO section to the armory=)

Because of Serp, the Steyr Aug became my fav weapon ever in any FPS. After I left the Unreal 1 scene for a while, I starting looking around for mods for HL or other games that had the Steyr Aug...no luck. Then, one day, I came into the INF weap page and caught a glimpse of my new love, the FAMAS.

Get that sucker in soon boys, I wanna start killing with bulpupped lovin.

P.S. Please make it worthwile to use, because even if the gun sucked performance wise, I would use it non-stop and get killed mercilessly because of it.

Comparing these to the model in the armory, I think that the best additions of detail should go into the "finger" grooves on the front of the gun. Also, notice that the side of the gun isn't really flat, the side comes out a little, starting from above the pistol and all the way out to the end.

Umm, then again, what do I know right?

I'll look into adding it, but the biggest concern has to be poly count. If it just can't be made to look good with a texture, which I have my doubts that it could, then I'll throw in some finger grooves, no prob =)

Personaly I quite like the Lee Enfield it ruled in RS even with NATO3 addon... and looks cooler IMO.. I bet U all played RS...right?

I can't wait for the FAMAS in game... I love that gun. The SIG will be enough to supress me though. Dunno about the P90, I prefer my shotgun when going CQB, I've all but given up on the MP5... Maybe when the PDW is out I'll rekindle the old flame.

I think all the weapon models need more detail on the sides, instead of just texturing in the detail. Because of the angle you are looking at the gun in third person, textured 3d effects arn't very effective.

Easily my favorite weapon, what version are we going to be seeing in the game the standard or G2?

yea a laser dot would be perfect as one of its atachments, and maybe a grenade luancher? it does have those nifty sights, oh and bipods! gota have'em and be able to use them prone!

heres one I modeled awhile back, no texture but you can still tell its not flat on the sides, from the view the player sees a weapon you really gota have some strategic model depth, thats what I notice most game companys do better then the mod commmunity w/ rather simple well laid out models..

FAMAS ATTACHMENTS

It can have:
-a night scope with infra-red vision
-a normal scope
-a grenade launcher (in fact the grenade is put on the cannon of the gun and then launched)
-and bipods, right..
