We all now, infiltration will stick around for a while. But it can't live forever. I mean in the future, there will be better and more powerful graphic engines. Sure we'll play infiltration, but the graphics could be so much better. Ok, so graphics isn't the main issue, but when that time comes, we will have houndres of games, thrown in our faces. And at some point. face it. we'll only have a distant memory, of the best mod(game*) ever. So I would like to hear from sentrystudios, if they will EVER, in 5 years or so, convert infiltration to other engines, so that we can be entertained, astounded (if that's the word) and amazed, by the game's glory again :)

* I would rather say game, 'cause it pretty much is.

I would just like to point out that this is a distant future, I'm talking about.

graphics? at this point in time "graphics" is only based on how good the texture artist is...

anyways, infiltration ISN'T moving to a new game...rather its sticking with an old one...now don't quote me on this, but im pretty sure infiltration will move to unreal2 just like it did unreal to unrealtournament

you can go get it 3d download.com if ya want

I'll wiegh the consequence like a man afraid of the madness just beyond his picket fence

Infiltration will most likely be ported to Unreal Warfare when it is released. Considering it's the exact same engine, only with numerous enhancements, there is no reason not to.

After that it is impossible to tell. The Infiltration team may choose to go commercial with Infiltration, or begin working on a completely new game.

As an amature mod making guy, i've been leaning toward the some of the newer large area games for my war sim fantasies. Lately i've been following Operation Flashpoint, Tribes 2, and HALO. I haven't read much from the new DOOM engine, but if it follows the same traits of previous ID products it will be extreemly well suited to very customisable, both for mod groups, end level users, and hackers. Hopefully they'll smart'n up and include some other game types.

Right now my "dream" engine would be able to support both large out door areas & in door realms with decent frame rates, realistic weather (rain & snow) vehicle support, and a good sound support... As far as moding is concerned i'd like some hybrid between RB6 & half-life/quake for simplicity and basic graphic tweeking.

This is of course just me. I'd probobly considere myself a Hobbiest mod'er who tends to focus on weapon packs rather than Total Conversions.

That was not Unreal 2, but only a technology-demo of the current not(!) optimized state (or rather it was in december 2000 if I recall correctly) of the unreal-engine using a normal pc, not some Geforce 3 enhanced monster like the Doom-demo used. Which of course is going to look good because if you use something like that, it'd be very very bad if it didn't.

I'd wish they took advantage of what they have now before adding GeForce 3 specific stuff, because they aren't using the full potential of the current GeForce yet.

Unreal Warfare is the ('to be decided') sequel to Unreal Tournament ...

Unreal 2 is more than a year away and Infiltration 2.85 hasn't been released so no need to worry about the future now.

YO DEF,

i dont really think that you should even think about HALO since it probably wont even come out on PC, most likely X-box

Where can i get a Unreal-2 dem.....TECHNOLOGY demo

i WANNNAAAAAAAA

and the reason that they are taking advantage of the stuff on the geforce 3 is because there is game that i am sure you have all heard of and it is called GIANTS-CITAZENS Kobuto or whatever

and plus the geforce 3 is coming out this march

the only thing that sucks about it is that it is availible on MAC first, but that may be good thing because macs have a better Operating Sytem

and it is even goin to be shipped with OS 10

but, uhhhhhh, yea, please let me know where i can get a tech-demo

i think you can get the tek demo from epics homepage. try www. epicgames.com

i've never really seen good outdoor enviroments done with the quake engine come to think of it. i think somebody should find away to use voxel rendering with the unreal engine. that would allow for some really cool outdoor maps.

The tech-demo is here : http://www.fileplanet.com/index.asp?section=790&file=51121 (size is +/- 43 Megabyte)

I thought they used the MacOs not because it is better (ANY OS is better than those made by Micro$oft), but because there is less hardware to worry about.

The game is "Citizen Kabuto", you don't need a GeForce 3 for that game. A simple GeForce256 will do quite nicely.

I just found the Doom3-demo here :

Do any of you people have ANY idea what kind of undertaking it would be to "port" Infiltration to a different engine? We're talking complete RE-WRITE from the ground up. Infiltration will stay on the unreal engine, and move along with the various games (Unreal 2, Unreal Warfare, etc).
