I don't dislike Palin, I dislike the whole process that got her picked as a VP candidate. McCain wanted Lieberman, and the Christian Right supporters of his campaign objected to a Jew getting picked, and demanded someone Christian, and he also needed someone young/attractive to distract from his age. Thus, we got someone completely incompetent politically for the job of VP. I'd imagine she's leaving office because someone got some real dirt on her and threatened to go public on it if she didn't leave. I find it hard to believe that someone with a character as strong as hers leaving because the media was picking on her family.

EDIT: here ya go... a very detailed and thoughtful answer...

The guy's been confirmed reading Digg, CNN.com, and NYTimes. Those are the only three you really need, well maybe MSNBC as well. Everything else is garbage, especially Fox.

Sarah Palin is a hate magnet for some of you. It's almost as bad as the stuff you ridicule others for doing.
Yes, the irony is thick as molasses in this thread, from the poll options to KaiserWarriors post.
No one cares. Let her disappear into obscurity by never mentioning her again.
Yes, please!

Yes. Like you, I'm sure he never watches it and yet complains about it :p I read a funny story the other day (can't remember where or seem to find it, though...). Somebody took a pack of Glenn Beck quotes around and asked people if they agreed with them. Most of them did. It must be nice to limit your view of the media by only watching one sided news outlets. I, on the other hand, usually mix it up with Fox, CNBC and CNN.

There is a reason why people say opposition is the spark of intelligent thought.

I was primarily ridiculing her speech. Which, if you watched it in full, was deliriously constructed and poorly delivered. No one hates Sarah Palin. They dislike what she represents and just hope this isn't the beginning of a star-studded 2012 presidential run.
because that would be ridiculous.

Where you see "deliriously constructed and poorly delivered" others see someone speaking genuinely from the heart and in an off-the-cuff manner. Just as many people are turned off by the slick, rehearsed teleprompter speeches these days.

And, yes, people do hate her as evidenced by comments in this thread alone.

I think she is worried about a Russian invasion, because you know that's where they will come first. Silly Neo-Con bitch.

Seriously Billy. Are you intentionally misusing the term Neo-Con? If so you should consider adding a ;) or something so that people don't continue to think you don't understand it.

What she represents? Once again we see the American public falling for the same trap I mention in every single one of these threads. Palin doesn't represent anything. She is nothing more than an invention of the McCain campaign. Somebody thrust into a situation that she simply wasn't prepared to handle.

She lost, and you would have thought that people would have moved on. Instead we have conservatives on one hand that bought into McCain's crap, and still support her. On the other hand we have Democrats that are desperate to keep in her in the spotlight in order to further strengthen their hold and push their agenda.

There's so many important issues out there to discuss. Healthcare reform is around the corner, and the stock market is about to take another nosedive on Monday. Yet here were are talking about Palin. Somebody who never has been, and who never will be. I think it's time everyone take a real introspective look here and ask themselves why they care cuz honestly it's ridiculous how people are being manipulated so easily.

The funny thing about it all is that Palin was the first one to understand what was going on and quit while she still could.

One day some of you will actually have kids or a small business and realize how wrong you were about everything. I'll leave it at that.

Do you have kids and/or a small business?

His statement is actually true since the 1920's. Since those times young people were mostly liberal, but as they got older most of them switched. Its just a fact that kids, business and life changes people away from the liberal view point.

Oh and I have an eight year old.

Oh, don't misunderstand me. I don't hate her solely because of her political leanings. I hate her specifically for how she behaved on the campaign trail. If a democrat had done/said the same things (you're the real America vs. those America-hating traitors, you should lick our boots for allowing you to have free speech, etc.), I'd hate them too.

of course!
because everyone in this country who identifies with the Left is single, has no kids, and certainly none of them own their own business.
moron
Palin doesn't represent anything.
no... she represents the things that she says she represents.
when a politician gets up on a stage and speaks, they are representing themselves. you can say that she is merely drawing on McCain's platform, but when she's up there speaking by herself, it's still self representation.
On the other hand we have Democrats that are desperate to keep in her in the spotlight in order to further strengthen their hold and push their agenda.
exactly.
until the GOP can find someone worthy of being the front runner, the opposition will continue to hammer at away at the easiest targets. conservatives do the same when they have the opportunity.
others see someone speaking genuinely from the heart and in an off-the-cuff manner.
hal I know you're not that dense.
you don't believe she was speaking unprepared
Just as many people are turned off by the slick, rehearsed teleprompter speeches these days.
not according to the last election...
every politician reads from something and rehearses what they're going to say. I guess it's sooooo horrible that Obama likes to have his sh*t in order and make sure it sounds good.
