Judge orders MS to reveal code

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I did notice the judge ordered the source to be revealed to the States, not competitors. I guess MS, or rather their attorneys are trying to equate "States" with "Competitors". But I do understand their anxiety over this order.

ah right i understand that, i can see were the states are coming from with that, but people still buy OS's like Linux and Unix so microsoft cant be doing that much to block out other companies. So i cant see the point with it really

lol, this is the US legal system we're talking about here. If they can try and split up a company, or challenge a government directly via a court case, why cant they do this?

You can't help that. We're all mad here.

LK - what are you talking about?

Exactly. Microsoft has claimed that it cannot separate IE from the rest of the OS. The states asked MS to prove it by showing them the source.

I think it's fully justified and fair. Hell, MS reveals it's complete source to "partners" on hugely regulated NDA's for a while buttload of money. I don't see the problem here.

Theres a difference between the legal system and the will of the government. The UK government could do a lot to ease the problems BT causes via the courts. They just choose not to.

But when it comes to legal systems, I'd go with the UK :)

Hey, why do they have to reveal code? Is it because they used Linux network code? Because, Linux as open source forbids any company to SELL linux code, and microsoft is doint that with this network code, and the only prove that microsoft used this linux code is if you look in the source.

It's this that makes then having to show the code, right? I hope so at least, I'd love to see M$ having to stop selling WinXP :)
