Yah. I like the part that says Inf is fairly new and have a long way to go. I think they are getting there pretty fast.

I hate non-military experience reviewers who try to review military mods. It drives me insane, because each one will say "Counterstrike = Realism". I despise that. I wanna kill them, but I won't, because I'm non-violent. ;)

Apparently the AKMSU is a short barrelled AK-47 copy and flagstaff is an assault mission, they obviously played it for all of 10 mins before writing the review. :(

what other realism mods?

CS, TO, and SF might be fun but they certainly aren't realistic... not even for a video game. Anyways just my opinion. Realism isn't the only factor in a good game but I would argue the sematics involved with his statements.

Map and the world maps with you.

"the team behind the mod, expressly states that providing a fun gameplay experience comes before total, all-out realism."

Uhm....NO!

I think that is an ignorent thing to say, the realism in INF is what makes me play it, and iven more so, continue to play it.

I should think that after trying just 5 mainstream DM style games, and anyone would be sick of it, i know i am.
The realism gives INF a new twist (a simple one), and for some reason, its the only FPS game/mod/mutator/TC/whatever (i just call it god) i have stuck with for so long.

even though the kinda messed it up, its publicity for our favourite mod, and overall wasn't TOO bad of a review, IMHO.

"If you find Counter-Strike a little too realistic then play Urban Terror"
They compared Urban Terror to CS not Inf.
That's the way I read it anyway.
hmm, a "realism"-mod that is worse then CS ?

As for calling 'Flagstaff' an assault map, I'd say they haven't tried 'Extreme Prejudice'. That DM-map absopositively screams 'assault' IMHO.

But calling 2.8x a 'Technology demo'
and saying the bots for CS are better then those in Inf ....

Uh, the "fun gameplay before realism" comment is about Urban Terror, not INF. Don't diss the people who wrote this for not reading the manuals, since apparently you don't read the review carefully yourself.

I thought it was a decent review, and in all honesty INF really suffers from no multiplay at the moment (2.85 around the corner though!) whereas all the others are functional in that aspect.

I'm not sure where they got the "technology demo" and "bad bots" from...probably because they got killed all the time :) I played CS when I had half-life installed on my machine, and I can honestly say it's down to botpathing done by the mapper, not by anything intrinsic in the engine...some maps are worse than others (witness BigClapper2's new bots which are heavily anti-sniper...OUCH).

On the other hand, I clearly remember the rapid-fire doorslam noise in Counter-Strike as bot after boot got stuck walking through every single door in the level...hah!

i think to really judge the innate intelligence of bots you need to put them in a small map with no pathing and see how they do. most just sit there. otherwise bot behavior is more based on pathing.

and he obviously dosn't know much about ut either if he says that dm-inf-flagstaff is assault. even a newbie would recognize it's a dm from the name.

and some could also argue his comment about quake 3 being the most advanced engine.

Good lord, I totaly aggree with everyone that these guys deserve a good wack to the head with a sharp stick for that trash. I mean, am I the only person who finds tac-op's models blocky and unprofessional compared to inf? (especially the hands...)

Sorry if I offended anybody with my expression of opinion there. I don't want to start any flame wars or anything - I've just had this brewing feeling of animosity for tac-ops ever since my friend made me play it. Oh well *engages flame shield and hopes not to get burned to a crisp too badly*

God..dont u think i know that!

I was just ranting about realism in games in general, and how i feel that the ide of more realism means less fun is all wrong, but that more realism makes it so much more fun.

Im not a total idiot damnit

Many people have the idea that the more realistic a game is, the less fun it is.

That's thinking inside the box. The truth is it's the implementation of realism that effects how fun a game can be.

If you implement it poorly, you'll suffer the consequences. Implement it well, and you reap the benefits.

Saying that a balance must be found between realism and fun for example, is a poor excuse. Used by those who couldn't be bothered to harness the advantages of a realistic system.

When working on a game based in the real world, you shouldn't ask how much realism must you add before the game becomes less fun, ask how much realism must you take out in order to keep the game playable.

You begin with the game concept then take a realistic base. Then work in the game around it. Not the other way around.

WELL.....

i seriously think that the guy who reveiwed this has a serious case of ADD for he did not pay any attention to any aspects of the game itself, i do believe that this guy spends most of his time counting the wee wee sugar chunks on frosted flakes instead of looking over the dam 'total conversion' (mod,i guess)

but, serously (again)...(yes i love to use that word).......comparing URBAN TERROR to CS, bullcrap, and he thinks that TO is very nice, and the longest review was INF, and he didnt mention how great it was, the way he said 'the weapons have a little twist to them to', THEY DO NOT have any twist to them, not at all. the akMSU is not a AK47 with a shortened barrel, dumbass
i dont know, it just makes me feel queer because he didnt take time to appreciate the fullness of this enjoyable mod

and one reason why people think super realism mods are less fun and more BS, is because they do not get that the people they are playing have the same physics that they do, its very strange

The fashist goverment that everybody hates is made up of people who cant afford to get a good paying job /A\

What a moron

He must be a moron. Talking about a game he clearly doesn't know anything about. My little sister (8) knows the difference between DM and Assault. And the Infiltration is clearly in an earlier stage is crap too. Just because they can throw together some crap and call it a game doesn't mean that is is good.(No offence to other realistic game fans of other mods(can't remember their names)) The INFILTRATION team spends allot of their free time to do this.
