I could probably find out by looking around the site, but I'll ask here instead.

Can and does Infiltration 2.75 extend beyond the mutator?

Cuz the review I read mentioned levels and stuff and missions and a new game mode and stuff, and when I chose to download it linked me to the 2.75 download page. I though 'yay, now I don't have to download the huge 60 meg version that I don't have enough diskspace for' and assumed it was an old review of an old version.

Yeah.

thanks in advance

Alright, thanks...

And no, there's actually no porn whatsoever on this PC...we just have small hard-drives. UT takes up like a third of one of them.

I'm jes' trying to think of what I could delete...I guess I'll just borrow a CD writer so I can burn the backup of my old computer...yeah. It's probably pretty big.

Plus the immense size of Inf makes me worry that it won't run decently on this PC. I can't remember the exact specs of it, but I usually aim for the lower-end maps. Galleon is about as detailed as it can handle, and even then it's teetering in between the levels of playability and nonplayability.

god I phrased that weirdly.

P.S. I'll ask in the wrong place, shall I? What other decent weapons MODs are there?

Well, since it doesent really look like the initial question got answered, i'll have a go at it.

2.75 is this:

2.75 is more or less just a weapons mutator, the weapon and player models are primitive, but fun none the less (i still play this version), it relies on UT's standard game-modes, all of witch works, and in addition, the gameplay can be tweaked in many ways, such as last-man-standing, with any number of additional lifes you want, rounds and map change can be configured easilly, allso witch weapons are allowed ingame, and witch weapons everyone spawns with.
It relies in pickups scattered around the maps, unless you turn that off, and choose to spawn with everything needed instead, but generally, the old maps on RM are wised, as the newer ones doesent have pickups, the link up top that says "maps" will take you directly to real-maps, where all INF maps are gathered, any UT map will allso work (2.75 doesent come with maps).

All of this is configured in the link in the "mod menu" in UT, and the mutator is selected in the practice session window where it says "Unreal tournament" (scroll down till it says "Infiltration").

2.75 uses a slightly tweaked version of UT's bot code, so they will behave much like you are used to them (2.80+ bots are not much fun, still allot of problems with them that needs to be ironed out).

Its only a little more than 7 meg's, so go for it!

Im sorry to say it, but bots seem significantly dumber in 2.85.5.
This version features a free-floating aim style with very detailed weapons. Loadout-based system too. No finding weapons laying around the map.
Most ppl complain that it is slower, so if you have problems with ut now, I honestly don't suggest it. No point in giving yourself a headache.

aww, this after my brother spends ages downloading the files and I arrange the loan of a CD writer to free up diskspace :(

well, I'll try it anyway.

~Gwilym

P.S. What other decent (low cpu demanding) MODs are there? Mostly I'm thinking weapons...

In 2.85, you configure your loadout before battle to determine what you use before you go into battle. The only weapons you pick up are from dead bodies. You get to choose from a wide assortment of weapons, but the more you take, like in real life, the more of a speed and stamina penalty you get. That sums up 2.85.

2.80 and up is a whole different thing.
I would hardly call it a patch(nothing like 2.75). It has its own launcher, its really a total conversion...
Try looking at some of the screenshots.

Thanks guys...though you haven't really told me anything I hadn't assumed already. :)

So it's Counterstrike. I don't care how much I'm generalising by saying that, but it is. :p

Okay, now someone just needs to answer my other questions.

*bump*

~Gwilym

P.S. To re-iterate: how cpu demanding is infiltration 2.85, and is there any reason not to upgrade to 2.85.5?

Answers on a postcard please

oOr better still in here, actually

yeah

thanks

If when you say that Inf is like CS you mean that they are both mods of FPS then yes they are slightly similar. CS is a bunnyhopping fragfest, whereas Inf is a thinking mans real-life mod. Stealth and a steady head always win (cept when you get whores - see other posts elsewhere).

2.75 was so long ago I almost can't remember it, wait, I can't. I say just stick with what your system can handle and wait for an upgrade. 2.85.5 is only good if you want to play online (which I assume you don't). So if you want the P90 and FN Five seveN then get 2.85.3, if not, stick with an earlier version.

Still my question has not been answered...maybe it was too vague

You say how 2.85.5 is not for me. okay

And 2.85.3 just introduces two new weapons...

then you say stick with what I have

I have 2.75 - I have downloaded 2.85 and am in the process of freeing disk space to install it

Best way to phrase my question - is 2.85 better for me than .3 or .5?

thank you

2.85.3 is far better than 2.85 (it's only a 12MB patch as well). Since you're not playing online, you wont notice any difference at all except you'll have a couple of new weapons and slightly better gameplay. The order to install everything is 2.85 - 2.85.3, if you have got the map packs, I'm not sure which order to put them on. Anyone??
