Do people still play inf?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

For the TS server there is the Shan/Odie server: 69 _DOT_ 44 _DOT_ 152 _DOT_ 92 (I haven't ask Odie but I guess it will be fine), unless you guys prefer the INF Germany TS server?

As for the game servers I think I would prefer if we stick to 1 server until we know how many people will show up (this doesn't mean we cannot have 2 servers ready). A single euro server would be fine with me (even if I'm NA), this is fun war after all :D

Next step: Publicity!

EDIT: insta-posted :) (btw Hi Odie)

I sorta got out of INF because there was almost no more DTAS or EAS...just a bunch of DM kiddies sprinting around killing each other in that damn 007 map remake. If DTAS and/eas has made a bit of a comeback I might reinstall and join again, even if it is on euro servers. Please tell me more than 2 people at a time once a month play DTAS or EAS now...

More than 2 people at a time once a month play DTAS now. In fact, I think there is a game of DTAS every weekend (and some nights) but that could be a totally random thing. In any case I'm all out of time. Have 8 more reviews to finish in 3 weeks plus university will start soon...

actually, no. Most of the INF forum whores do not play. They just respond to OT threads which have nothing to do with INF. And when they do participate in threads relating to the game (Duke Cheating) it doesn't make a fuk-bit of difference 'cause nobody cares what they say.

I'd come and play, but there is too much random **** added on to the game now. I'd have to sit downloading random addons for hours last time I tried.

I don't. Last time I tried, I ran into the same issues that dapngwnman ran into. If I wanted to get back into INF, I wouldn't know where to begin.

You would download the INF 2.9 base install, then download the GD Mutator package which has a bunch of files used by the SG servers and GD servers. As for the european servers... I have no clue. I'm sure they're just as organized, if you can read the language on their websites.

It's almost impossible to new people to join this game and even for those who are in the know it's not that easy.

The other day I wasn't on my computer and I wanted to install INF, I had some hard time to remember all the mutators that I was needing. I had to stop INF 4-5 times to download mutators (you really dont want to download the infmodteam bonus pack or the voice pack 2 from a server (it takes half a eternity)).

The links posted by Crowze are good but it don't tell you which mutator(s) you need to download to play on most servers (and you got to know what is a mutator in the first place) . (The beppo post is really good and list probably 50 mutators but it's not usefull to new players).

I think there should be a big link on the top of the http://infiltration.sentrystudios.net/ web site written "HOW TO GET STARTED!" with step by step instructions of what to download and install.

EDIT: could also have a optional part with links to TeamSpeak (with IPs for the most common TS servers), Chris O'Donnel OpenGL drivers and a couple of usefull URLs to download maps and extras.

The fact that there is all of this new usermade content also steers me away. Even though its the same version of INF, it isn't the INF I'm used to. I remember when it was just RA and DTAS. I understood that :p

Most servers are running mutators that only add to the game (new weapons, compass, voices, camos) or modify it slighly (IWE, yurch 203, dukeNades). Most servers don't run mutators that modify INF like RA did or like RT (RealTarget) do. As for gametypes, the 3 most commun gametypes are TDM, DTAS and EAS which the gameplay haven't changed since the beginning of 2.9 (DTAS evolved a lot but the basic gameplay pretty stayed unchanged).
