Gearbox's UE3-powered Borderlands just might have the most guns in a game, ever, with over half a million possible combinations. But one thing that's no longer a roll of the dice is when the game will come out - Borderlands is due to hit PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 20th in North America, and October 23rd Internationally.

As a result, some kids might get just a LITTLE less Halloween candy from my household, this year. :)

UPDATE: (July 23rd, 4:25 PM) An official Press Release has been issued, confirming the game's dates and platforms. If you like reading press releases, you can read it right'chere.

Gamers are gonna have to pick and choose which games are gonna get there money

Modern Warfare 2 is a shoe in but the rest have to fight for the left-overs

late spring early summer would be a good time to sneak a decent title in!!

Screw MW 2.... my money is on Borderlands. After I saw the presentation at E3 w/Randy Pitchford I was extremely impressed with the game.

Not to say that COD sucks...but honestly it's just hey 'we are the army lets go kill terrorists eff yeah!'

Borderlands seems to be very unique as most people describe it (and accurate at that) it is Mad Max meets Diablo! Plus four player co-op... that sold me as well.

The full press release is as follows.
2K Games Announces October 20, 2009 Street Date for Borderlands™ in North America and October 23, 2009 Internationally

2K Games and Gearbox Software pioneer an electrifying new video game genre -
Role-Playing Shooter (RPS)

July 23, 20092K Games announced today that Borderlands™, the innovative role-playing shooter (RPS), will explode into North American retail stores beginning October 20, 2009 and October 23, 2009 internationally. Coming to PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows-based PC, Borderlands will provide a strong blend of first-person shooter combat with an arresting art style, co-operative gameplay and character progression to deliver an incredibly unique and innovative title this holiday season.

Borderlands is a highly anticipated original intellectual property from Gearbox Software, creators of the acclaimed Brothers in Arms franchise. Featuring extensive co-op integration that seamlessly blends the single player and multiplayer experiences, Borderlands will allow players to freely join or leave each other’s games at any time for collaborative mayhem or the freedom to choose to play in full single player mode to experience the world on their own. Borderlands will also include a groundbreaking content generation system that adds nearly infinite variety in the amount of weapons that are available to the player. These features, along with addictive nonstop action, will combine to form a breakthrough experience that challenges the conventions of modern shooters and RPGs.

Borderlands will be available starting October 20, 2009 in North America and October 23, 2009 internationally for the PLAYSTATION 3 system, the Xbox 360 and Windows-based PC. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB. For more information on Borderlands please visit www.borderlandsthegame.com.

2K Games is a division of 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO).

The multiplayer is what makes MW so special...not that the single player is bad..but I still play CODMW to this day 2 years after release and the servers still have a lot of people in them.

I'm looking forward to trying Borderlands...even though it has rpg elements in it(which I loath)...but being that its also a FPS I'll give it a fair shake

I haven't kept up with this game because at a glance it looked like a bit of a half-concieved mishmash, but the moment I heard "coop" I had to look it up. I'm officially interested. I don't think I know about any coop fpsrpg's at all.
