Hi all. I would like to request, can someone make Krazali's Homer skin in UT2003 and make it for UT2004. Or if not, can someone give me some advice in how to do that? The Homer skin does work for UT2k4, but it is missing the vehicle riding mesh, or model is it? I was wondering if I could take another character's vehicle riding mesh and/or skeleton, and somehow apply the Homer texture to it? Sorry, I know I sound like a n00b but, I would think if you have the know how, it might not be that hard? I also would use the tools UPaint and UnrealEd. Is that right? Can someone please give me some useful info? Thank you very much!

I'll take a proper look at the Homer model later, Jabba to verify if it can be done. I beleive that model uses one of the default human male animations. After that I'll see if it can be done and get back to you. Have you asked Kryzalis if he'd mind it being updated?

I'll let you know first chance I get

Thanks!

Thank you for your replies! No, I haven't asked Kryzalis yet. Hmm... I didn't know how to contact him but I'm going to check the member list right now. Thanks again.

Ok, there is info in the original download. Didn't have that zip file.

Great

Thank you klasnic. So I guess it's not as simple as I thought it should be??? I read all the tutorials and couldn't find anything for what I wanted to do. If Kryzali gives permission, how much more has to be done? Kryzali has done all the work with his Homer model already. Hmm... Well, thanks again.

Ok

I contacted Kryzali and he gave me permission to try to convert it to UT2k4. How about using default human animation from UT2004?

That's what I meant, if it already uses the human animations, it should be easy enough. I still haven't been able to search for it here or check it out as my PC's having major problems (guaranteed it'll just stop again in a few minutes) so it's really unworkable at the mo. I'll post here once I see it. What you could do is open the .ukx file in UnrealEd and under Animation set see if it uses a human male or any of the default animations in 2k3 ;) That'd save me some time anyway cause I really can't use this at the mo

Hmm...

I checked and I don't know. How do I export the .psa files from the animation file .ukx? Can I just copy certain properties from another characters animation and the paste it over? I don't have any experience skinning and modding, but this seems like it should be easy, compared to all the work Kryzali did creating the model in the first place. You know?
The skin works fine... just wish he could ride in vehicles. :( I don't even know if I have the brain power to read all those tutorials to do this one little thing. How bout this... You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours! There's gotta be something I can do for your help eh? LoL. Thanks for any help you give.

So I was going to go and mention about how you cant extract anims from ukx's and such, but figured it would be too bothersome when I could just convert the model instead.

FWIW Homer has a Default max biped, but not in the same exact layout as any other UT character, nor is the animation set the same as a normal ut character. However since the bone names match the animation data is Compatable. So rather than overwrite the nice anims that Kryzaliz did for homer's idle and taunts I just made a driving pose using the default male skeleton and appended it to the existing set. Since the animation data is just rotation offsets rather than positional the pose works fine without distorting the model.

Grab the updated one here.
Homer for UT2k4

Also since I'm sure more people will want to do this method I'm attaching a zip with the driving pose .psa in it so if there are any more ut2003 models, built on a default max biped that need to be updated you can simply open up the model in the animation browser in UED, then go File->AnimationAppend and select the enclosed .PSA, then save the model and voila, they can drive.

Also attached are some screenshots.

...

LoL! Well, well, well... Vailias. I truly am indebted to you now heh. And so should anyone else who uses this for any of their UT2k3 skins. Thank you very much, I owe you one!
