Looking forward to Battlefield: Viet Nam
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone who knows how much fun BF1942 was at recreating large-scale, epic battles, with many players (up to 64 online!), many weapons, huge maps, and many driveable vehicls and planes will definitley be looking forward to this more modernized version (as if Deset Combat wasn't enough).
DC is good but I know people will really be looking for something stable fully functional (in way of bots as well) since BF:VN will be official. |
Anyone know why that ammo box is turned in the completely wrong direction?
|
Eve of Destruction (Vietnam BF1942 mod) is better than Desert Combat IMO but I am sure I will buy BFVietnam.
|
if they give up the arcadish game play i might give it a go, but it's quite unlikely
|
The gameplay is kinda silly. Grab a plane, fly it into an enemy tank and jump out at the last second so you can get in their base and steal their vehicles. If you get damaged, get out, steal another tank and destroy everything else around you.
Stupid ass game. Edit: Must remember to put an e on the end of Plane. |
lol i wanna go and fly a copter into just ONE person... that'd be funny.... wonder if they'd survive...
|
It's EA so I am not holding my breath.
|
ah yes, bf1942, where you can park a jeep on a plane and launch people 5000 feet in the air. I liked that game because i knew they werent even trying to get realistic, hell the russians had a colt45. May as well have replaced their t-tanks with shermans as well?

I think it's obvious that BF1942 isn't supposed to be realistic. It's just plain good old fun.
|
Some people here seem to be missing the fun chromosome and cant appreciate good arcade action. Its even too much for me at times but in moderate doses it can be very theraputic.
|
Exactly, BF1942 doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither should you.
|
BF1942 would have been the perfect game had they made it realistic. It's a shame.

Thank god for people like Kowalski.44, Lightzout, and rgreene.
They're right, BF wasn't about total realism. I know i'm preaching to the wrong crowd (hell I was hooked to INF for 2 years and would accept nothing less) but you need to step outside the freakin box! It's just good fun! I mean come on, there aren't too many games which allow you to go Kamikazee with an AC-130 on an enemy battleship with 3 jeeps sitting on the wings loaded with men all firing and ready to bail out at the last second and take the ship! |

That being said, it is in fact loads of fun. I disliked DC because it virutally killed the infantry combat, lets hope the new game doesn't take the same path. |
I really disliked DC when I first played it, but after many weaks of goading by my coworkers, I downloaded and installed .38D and I really enjoy it. If you haven't tried it in a while, you should give it a go.
|
I tried DC and really enjoyed it too. Not the most realistic game, but it is fun at times.
|
It's true though what yurch said unfortunatley.
DC killed the need for infantry. With all the planes and choppers it threw in, and the ammount of uses that each one has, there's never any good fire fights anymore. I like being on foot as opposed to anything, I like the close and spread out fire fights. |
I used to think that, then I downloaded .38D a couple of nights ago and hoped on a server with 32 people, and there are PLENTY of man on man combat. In fact, with that many people, you probably have a better chance taking out a tank on foot than you do in another tank.
