View Full Version : rumor?

I have just visited the Epic, Digital Extremes, and Infogrames websites in search of this supposed confirmation of UT2. I have found absolutely nothing on those pages to suggest that UT2 is in developement. It's cool that we have all these online gaming sites "confirming" UT2, but where is the official confirmation from the people making it?
Now are all these supposed UT2 screenies really UT2 or are they U2 and UW being misidentified as UT2 to start the rumor mill?

They are true. Check out the BuF Homepage.
Infogrames has confirmed it with VE and PU via e-mail.

but Bangin has a point, why dont they say anything about it on their own websites? Perhaps they are too busy making the game?:D

no...Infogrames is just the publisher. They had wanted to announce it at the end of the week in conjunction with PC Gamer's February UT2 cover story. Unfortunately (for Infogrames) some other, less scrupulous magazines leaked the press kit.
Infogrames gave PC Gamer some new shots, the magazine is out now. Infogrames also sent out emails confirming the rumour and stated that they'd comment on it soon. Here's the e-mail in case you're too lazy to click on the link in my sig... ;)
Infogrames confirms Unreal Tournament 2 in the making by Digital Extremes. As rumored all week online, the co-creators of Unreal and Unreal Tournament are currently working on the sequel to the infamous 1999 Game of the Year.
Late next week, in conjunction with the February issue of PC Gamer, Infogrames will officially announce the game and detail all the news currently available at this point in development. The cover story includes an in-depth interview with the development team at Digital Extremes, specifics about the gameplay and globally exclusive artwork to be seen only in PC Gamer.
