Yes :)
The only reason Dai's not excited is because she/he can make beautiful 3D art already, I on the otherhand can't so this is exciting for me because I want to be able to do realism, and since I've got the hang of the Editor already I should have an "easy" making U2 levels.

do you plan on making maps for U2? :B
MrFawn

the Unreal T&L terrain is extremly low poly compared to the x-isle tech terrain
Hourences
14th Dec 2001, 09:30 AM
x-isle is awesome
Dai2
14th Dec 2001, 10:09 AM
I wouldn't say extremely low poly. Lower poly certainly, but then, x-isle isn't much more than a tech demo at this point.

I got GMax, and I'm gonna be taking a break from working on maps to learn that. Eventually I might find my way to 3ds, but seriously i would never do anything like warez it :B

Pronounce it anyway you like. It's ancient Greek (it means "King of the City"), which is a dead language so the pronounciation doesn't really matter and actually nobody knows how to pronounce it because well... nobody speaks ancient Greek anymore.... :)
Chrysaor
15th Dec 2001, 10:11 PM
I'm not really worried about U2 supporting it, as long as the features are the same, the functionality is what I need to learn, I'll worry about finding a copy of 3ds later :)

Are they not working on 3DS Max 5?
@kuma
16th Dec 2001, 04:30 PM
I gather everything in 5 will be made of quads (easier for subdiv work) which'll make it totally ****ing useless for low poly game modelling.
But I could be wrong (not unusual)
MrFawn
16th Dec 2001, 04:54 PM
but then my crates will have 6 polys instead of 12 :p
Twrecks
16th Dec 2001, 10:16 PM
Be nice if Max supported true polys. Any coplaner surface with multiple sides...
fOOk all this Triangulated BS! What are we, STL models?
