Well, I really really wanted to do something special for my ELITE post (w00t!!), so I thought I'd try and start a lengthy thread. It took me awhile to come up with it but I think this is a good one.
SHOW US YOUR CITY!
I don't care if it's population 361, 361,000, or 3,610,000! Post it here! (If you live in a suburb of a metropolis, please post the city you live near, like I did). I actually live in a suburb of Cleveland!
If you only have one traffic light in your tiny city....that'll do! Go snap a picture!
Here she is...ain't she purty???
(Feel free to tell me if this is a lame idea!)

This is boston looking down backbay, over the park and beacon hill, and into the financial district. This picture is taken from the Prudential Tower looking east. I couldn't find a picture that really does justice of boston at night seen from the MIT in cambridge- it's a beautiful city!

The people are wonderful too- yes it suffers from the New England stand-offishness, but it's a very open minded and relaxed city in general because it has an incredible amount of college kids and young professionals.

A little off topic, well,,,,,.... OK, a lot off topic and a total and complete shot in the dark. I used to have a bud over here in Canada that moved to Leiden and went to the University over there. (Yup you guessed it, you knew I was gonna ask!) Have you by chance ever heard of a guy by the name of Christian Fredericke Weterings? (I think I spelled his first name wrong, he always went by Chris) He's the same age as me 35! Bday august 15th.

(OK, OK I know the chances are infitesimally (?) small, but I just had to ask)

Hey you have a better chance of knowing him than most other people on this board.

Thankx for responding SU3000. I didnt figure you'd know him, Leiden's a pretty big place to know one guy, but it woulda bugged me if I hadnt asked. Chemist? no, not sure what he took but was probably related to the arts, he struck me more as a historian than anything else. I know he did some rowing for the university out there, but I think he was a cox. As you can see not a lot of interaction with him after we gradded in '84. :)

Yes, midtown is very cool (at least it seemed that way when I visited). It's just that all the flashy lights and other BS on TimesSquare make it a truly nasty place to spend time. Well, as most of you folks I know I live 'downunder'. I've never seen snow, and it rarely gets colder than 3 degres celcius over here in Brisbane, Australia ;). Oh, I live about 5 minutes from the City, here's some shots:

You don't :p. Holland's major cities are notorious for not being able to park your car. That particular canal has a lot of nice cafes and restaurants.
