come on people. test the damn thing :) i have got as close to the origional and my vision as I can. And I want to get finished with it. I'm just looking for your comments and/if errors .....

warning late night post, lots of syco stuff, and typpos

your maps are improving, the map is certianlyl better then your previous ones i think, altough texturing is weird at places, like the bar in the ceiling with a lamp texture > wtf
and you have too much big boring empty walls, fill it up, make pillars or something, big an empty = boring, the snake head was nice, but still a bit blokcy, certainly his uppart, erm doesnt it have eyes and a noise and stuff ?
the lava everywhere should give light, putting it to unlit alone isnt enough,there should be an ligghtacot on it to give a subtile small glow, very colourfull, high birghntess, slow radius
you also used dynamic light on alot of places i think, hardly noticable, but i do see it in my pc his fps, slows down and doesnt add anything too the overal map > remove, only use it in special cases, where you really need it

items were god although a bit more wouldnt be bad, more ammo or something, floorplan is from quake, cant say anything about it, and the floorplan on itself isnt that good, its too flat, and too simple, you had better copied another map :)
textures were weird at places, you have way to big files, get the textures you are using out of the package you use now, put it inmylevle or make your own pacakge, and give them a detailtexture
some lights need more light dark contrast, we are talking abut a devil enviroment here, by making big light dark contrast we create a dramatic and scary feeling > wich you need for this kind of map, some corners where dark, like outside, would be better if there was a small light there, looks uninfished now
the texture from the fire should be translucent, its masked now i think, > masked ghey, and it should give yellow lighht, not white, imposseble
the sky moves way too fast, slow it down, do not copy quake exactly, cause it sux :) the mountains in the skybox are blue, the map is red, blue and red doesnt match, the colours are fightning eachother and dont create a harmony, use a better mountain texture
havent checkt sound cause i was too lazy to turn of winamp, and havent checkt bots cause im too lazy to fight those bots, i did found the redeemer though, and the lava that hurts to get the rl is nice

cant think of anything else, im going to bed :D

Okay....
I got your map to play....I put that file in the wrong folder. :(
map looks pretty good. Lots or red light hurts my eyes after a bit but oh-well. Botts just kinda like to stand were they spawned and shoot. Some nice effects overall tho. Like the ski boxxes.
I see the reddeemer in the ED....how do I get to it????

cant think of anything else, im going to bed :D thanx hourences. im going to fix the lighting and i think i know how to make that "head" thing less square. but im not sure how to make the sky go slower, its the first skyzone ive made :)

I see the reddeemer in the ED....how do I get to it???? i suck at bots. to get the redeemer you have to use the translocator...........no other way :)

The Avatar? Not sure where it originally comes from.
Just found it one night after searching many avatar sites after drinking a few too many brewskis. Just picked something that best represented the "inner"..lol

Major improvements over the first beta! Looking good.
The noise for the fire seemed a little too much like static, I'd pick a "beefier' fire noise..imo.
The tounge area looks much impoved, but if you look hard enough you still see a little chunkiness. Go to the base of the tounge and look straight up. Hard to notice in gameplay, but something the "reviewers" will catch.
Like the statues bettter than the four flames before.

I know your still tweaking lighting, but the candles need something. The original had skull head torches?
Textures look good, and you got a good atmosphere going on.
Thats about it I guess. Looking good, filled it up with some bots and had alot of fun with it. Its the best remake I've seen of this
map so far.

As far as slowing down the sky ...just go to your sky info zone properties, then go to zone light and adjust the numbers for texupan speed and texvpan speed.

map so far. the "chunkiness" that i think you are refering to is now gone and the "roof" of the mouth that goes to the ceiling is a little curvier now. i'm not good with the 2d editor or i would have made the mouth better and also made the skull candles like in the origional. and thats the best fire sound i could find, but i will look harder. i also think its the best conversion of arenagate :lol:

people I'm gonna have to call it quits on the map. every other time i rebuild it i get huge bsp/hom errors. as of now theres no hom erros but a few little spots i think are bsp holes. i fixed the speed of the clouds made the mouth look a little better and removed 99% of the dynamic lighting, i hope you enjoy it..........

i'll upolad it to my site soon and let you know so you can dl it there insted of waiting for it on nc ;)

Hm, I think my version is better (but you did much more work in the mouth :-) ) BUT:

I'll redo it completely (my mouth in the map)... I put the map against a huge mountain, and in the backroom, the wall is broken, and a (not liquid) lava will come out of the gap... I'll think that would be cool (http://fluffy.shrimpwars.be/pages/dl.php)

well its finished! its basically the same as the final beta except for lighting and the 2 cloud tex's are going the same way. i also put these little lava things in the candle rooms, just for looks.......
