If you read their own statements they all say at one time or another they are bias towards Q3, weither it be more used to Q series or others it is easy to see after reading the posts that they did not make unbias decisions

Here is a few unbias reasons why they vote for Q3

game modes..means types right

All I play is DM with this type of game. I don't find CTF
interesting for why I play -- I just want to blow off steam, kill a
few people and get back to work

Almost the same stuff, but to be honest, i'm bias. I even like
viewing one-on-one Quake 3 games.

I am so used to Quake 3 that I can just jump in, get some kills
and jump out

t's hard to say. I don't know how long my interest in
deathmatch will last, however, before I start craving another
good game of Domination. This will probably change unless
some mods come out quickly with better maps and some new
modes of gameplay...with

If you love deathmatch, you aren't going to find anything better
than Q3. If you like CTF and other sorts of team games, you'll
want to check out UT.

Q3A is simple, but its core focus is pulled off expertly, and it
'feels' so much more solid than UT's cartoony style.

weapons
While Quake3 may have fewer weapons, they are almost all
good (with the exception of the railgun which has been nerfed).
Unreal has really stepped up to the plate and delivered in this
category, but the rocket launcher is too dominating in most
maps. they really did it but vote Q3 right??

Sure they're old; sure you've used them a million times before,
but why mess with perfection? UT has good weapons, but
they're still not as fun as the ones in Q3.

level design

Quake 3 is purely Arena-minded, short corridors invariably spill
into wide-open pits of rocket death. Could use more complex,
tense levels. Unreal goes too far the other way. Some levels
are simply too convoluted
so because they are more what complex they are bad???

UT is more consistent, while Q3 has higher highs and (slightly)
lower lows. If you want to play on the best maps, though, go
with Quake3.
UT is more consistant well than the verdict should go to UT but no verdict Q3


You can't beat Carmack's graphics engine. Just wish there was
more variety to the look of the game (i.e. not every level needs
to look like a heavy metal album cover with the horned skulls
and the flickering torches
it was not about engines it was about graphics complain only about Q3 then say they won..verdict Q3

intangibles

It just "feels" better for some reason - possibly because I am
more familiar with it, possibly because of the edge the curved
surfaces give the graphics. Who knows?

Q3A. Maybe it's the smooth feeling of the game or the ease of
playing, or maybe it simply is all the hype built around the
game, but Q3A just has something irresistible about it.

I gave my honest humble opinions, giving the nod to Q3A as far as graphics and player models go. Other than that, UT got my vote in every other category. For me eye candy is useless with out compelling gameplay, and all the other categories have to be working for the game play to be rocking like it does.

Case in point, Tribes really does suck *** in the Graphics compartment, but man I LOVE THAT GAME TO DEATH. Tribes is my first love, and will always have a special place in my gaming memories. Why? The gameplay just rocks, There has not been a game released since Tribes that can even compare to the sheer intensity and competitiveness involved with Tribes. And all the variety in the gameplay is just icing on the cake, if not duanting at first.

This is JUST MY OPINION, but Q3A blows chunks in my eyes. Why? I never was a fan of DM. I always thought it to be a mindless "childs" game. I am 25 and prefer to play games that make you think instead of mindlessly blowing up anything you see moving. Thats why I was not much of a computer game player, until Tribes, because the only thing you could play (that I knew about) that made you think was like the StarCrafts and Role Playing games. StarCraft was way too slow for my liking, and I can't get into roleplaying. So I just console gamed for the longest time. Then Tribes came along and I got a taste of extremely fast gameplay with a ton of Strategy. I was born again. Heheheh. And up to this point UT is the best thing to come out, for me, after the Tribes experience. I would also like to say that, when playing with a competent team, that UT CTF and Assault does not miss the Tribes experience by much, niot much at all. Maybe if they put in a decent CTF mod for Q3A down the road I'll buy it, not until then though.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, both games are winners, just depends on what YOU want and like to play.

I hate Daily Radar with a passion. They're the biggest bunch of fanboys I've ever seen. Their Q3 vs. UT verdict doesn't surprise me at all because I expected them to come to that conclusion.

So how the hell does that sum up gameplay? The gameplay element is a whole mix of different things including the control you have during the game, the maps you play on and the way they're structured, the weapons you use etc. Just because a game "feels" better doesn't mean it plays better. I think what they meant to say (but couldn't say it for fear of being bombarded with angry emails from irate people) was "we're used to Quake series games, and we haven't played much Unreal or UT, so we've gotta go with Q3 here because it's what we're used to". Pathetic.

Nope, and that's why I still play Quake 1. There's nothing new about the weapons in Q3 - hell, they even brought back a couple of Q1 weapons like the Lightning Gun.

I could go on and on about this, but it'd be too long for a forum post.
