anyone know how to deal with this critical error when trying to play back 3rd party demos (those being demos not recorded by you)

Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. Basically UT dies on you when you try to play back a demo that requires something which you dont have on your computer.
To find out what you are missing, after the crash, check your Unrealtournament.log. Located in your Unrealtournament\System folder.
