I'm starting to write an unofficial pre-release FAQ for U2 and I'm asking you all for your help.

Please read through the following list of questions and check if I have missed anything important.

These are the questions that I have in mind by now:

1. General
- What is U2?
- Who are the makers of U2?
- In what relation does U2 stand to U1, UT, UC, UW, and WoT?
- When will U2 be released?
- Where can I find good descriptions, screenshots and videos for U2?
- Will there be an open beta test for U2?
- Will there be a demo for U2? Before or after release of the full game?

2. Tech
2.1 General Tech
- What are the system requirements?
- What platforms will U2 be released for? (PC, Linux, Mac, Consoles?)
- What rendering system will U2 use? (D3D, OpenGL, Glide, ...?)
- Will U2 support multi CPU systems (SMP)?
2.2 Engine
- What engine will U2 use? Features?
- Max. polycount?
- Will U2 have environmental effects? (Wind, rain, snow, dust, ..)
- What other games use the U engine?
2.3 Model, Maps & Mutators
- Will U2 be mod-friendly?
- What editor will U2 use? Will UT maps be playable in U2?
- What code language will U2 use? A new UScript? Are UT mutators compatible with U2?
- How will the U2 skin/model system work?
2.4 Multiplayer Tech
- Is U2 strictly singleplayer or also multiplayer?
- Will U2 online playing be MMO? Will it be pay-per-play?
- What netcode will U2 use for online gaming?
- What cheat protection will U2 use for online gaming?
- What are the player limits for multiplayer?
- Will U2 have built-in voice-over-net communication?

3. Gameplay
3.1 Singleplayer Gameplay
- Will there be co-op in U2?
- How will singleplayer gameplay be?
- What environments will you fight in?
- Which enemies and creatures will be in U2? What is a Seagoat?
- What weapons and items will be in U2? Which U1/UT weapons will make a come-back?
- Will the U2 weapons have "combo" firing modes?
- Will U2 have a translocator, jetpack or grappling hook?
- Will U2 have dodging? Any other special moves?
3.2 Multiplayer Gameplay
- How will multiplayer be? What game modes?
- What is XMP?

4. Links
- Envolved companies websites
- Official U2 website & FAQ
- Unofficial U2 websites
- Screenshots & Videos
- Interviews
- Previes
- Fan Sites, Fan Art & Wallpapers
- Forums

Did I miss anything important?


The answer for the questions shall not be wild guessing. I'll try to answer as many questions as possible with official quotes from interviews, previews and forum posts. I count on your help when it comes to finding links to answers and quotes. :)

Excellent job -The-Tetris-L- I'm seriously stumped for another question. You have covered almost everything a newbie will ask.

PS:- Can someone tell me why Scott Dalton looks like this, now that would be a good one :D.

After 1 week version 1.0 of the unofficial pre-release U2 FAQ is done. It's basically just a big collection of quotes from reviews and interviews.

Have a look and post any comments, suggestions, flak, ... in this thread.

- What about the Unreal2 bots. How unpredictable will they be?
Max nr of bots in a match -- How many bots can you edit...etc...

dont know if this is helpful for the pre release faq but what about a question about voices (as you have about models, etc.) Will u2 support voicepacks and how will they be produced?
