Some custom textures made by a couple friends of mine look washed out.

In 32bit mode they look fine, but in 16 bit mode the look like washed out , with most defining lines gone, and very bright.

Any way to fix this?

you'll need to sharpen the edges with PSP or photoshop... there are numerous other things you can do but this is the easiest way

OI!

I am noticing same problem, but i am telling to myself: why would there be 32 bits in game if 16 bits is looking same!!!

Answer is mipmapping or directX/openGL/UT or somone's automatic texture 32 bit turn into 16 bit texture thing is not picking the 16 bit pallate in a smart way when it is given a 32 bit texture.

that and UT's light model is lame
