Has ANYONE had any success with fixing The Bad Name Index
Error?
Because Ive got that and I dont know what to do...
Ive tried Patching the Game, But the Installer quits halfway through, so I might have to try the Nodelta patch, but thats going to take SO long on my Dialup connection....

A wierd thing though If I run the Unreal_Tournament.exe file on the cd the game works, but it takes like 10 mins to load the intro. So I tried simply copying the CD to my hard disk, but then It gives me the same Critical error message as if I installed it!!

Maybe I could Try Virtual CD....

My System Specs

AMD Duron 750 MHz
32MB GeForce 2MX (an Asus V7100)
128MB of RAM
Windows 98 SE

can anyone help me?

Youve never heard of it?
basically when I try to run Unreal Tournament it loads for a while,
then gives a critical error message saying: Bad name index
and heap of other stuff under it then dumps me back on the desktop.
When I try patching it gets halfway then gives a similar message
(I think).

The strange thing is I can run it from the CD without problems,
but it takes sooooooooo long to load....

In position
I a few suggestions for you.
  1. Scan your disc for virus
  2. Run scandisk
  3. Defrag your harddisk
  4. Reinstall UT
In that order.
