Shucks, i just deleted that screenshot of 5 players on a server all with pings over 8 seconds :(

Yeah, life with a modem sucks some days. I just got myself a 2 PC LAN at home though, though for some reason UT still gives an in-game ping of around 30 ... but some lag free play will be a nice change.

Umm...I once heard of a linking-two-56K-modems-trick...never tried that though...according to the description you should gets a 128K connection then, although I doubt it. :hmm:

This is part of Dial Up Networking 1.3, which comes with Windows 98 or is a download for Windows 95 (I don't know the situation with NT/2000). If you go to your dial-up networking connection folder, right click on the connection, select properties and you should see the details you need in the right hand tab.
However, (1) you need 2 modems and 2 phone lines and (2) it only increases bandwidth, not ping :( It'll speed up those map/mod downloads though.

LK: for someone who is always talking about their 150 ping on a dialup, I would say: welcome to the other side of the coin. Enjoy!

I think it was a BT (as ISP) problem yesterday (You are still using BT I presume :) ). I had the same problem, ping wasn't so bad but massive packet loss.

I don't know why that pic was red it must have had to do with the extremely high pings (notice mine was hihest by far)

I'll be able to get a F6 ping pic with it above 5000 on a regular server every once in a while :D

56K FOREVER!

LK: there is a long story why my city can't get DSL or cable but I don't want to explain it. Until it finally does come nobody can top my 56K winmodem connceted through AOL :D

Hmm, that ping of -181199392 (I've seen stuff like that in the browser too)...

in theory, that means your weapon will fire 2 days, 2 hours, 19 minutes and 59 seconds before you hit fire.....
