M60 is trash.

So is Minimi Para/Minimi SPW/Negev Commando.

Don't know much about MG42... isn't that the one that turned out to be too complex to manufacture in volume?

First time I hear about SS77.

This is what I'd like to see

If I was making such a poll, I'd post the following entries:

FN MAG (M240). Reliability, reliability, reliability.

Lewis. Just for nostalgy value :)

RPK. Need more Warsaw Pact weapons besides AKMSU.

MG36. At 3.5kg, it's featherweight for a machine gun.

MAYBE L86, I hear they still haven't worked out all the bugs with it.

Dunno about other countries, but Israel definitely doesn't. We use MAG (M240) and Negev as infantry MGs. 2 spec-ops units (forgot their name, think one is Sayeret Tzanhanim, the paratroopers brigade LRRP unit) use RPKs, but that's rather as a status symbol and not due to any operational need - they were adopted in those units because there was no Negev yet, and MAG was just too damn heavy (10.5kg without spare barrel and ammo), and when Negev went into service, they didn't switch cause they wanted to look cool.

The updated MG42 is designated MG3.
It was actually the MG38 that was too complex to manufacture in volume.

My choice for another MG would have to be the M240G (FN-MAG), the US's brand new 7.62mm GPMG.

Yes, it's heavy, but I can tell you from personal experience that it's manageable :) Carried one around for a couple weeks - it wasn't like an M16, but then again, it didn't make me fall to the ground under its weight :)

Besides, even if it's one of the heavier MGs.. maybe the Inf team can use that fact to help balance it in the game.. instead of limiting ammo for the gun or making it cost 40,000,000,000,000 or such.
