I personally use joystick (MS Sidewinder Pres. Pro)+mouse (MS Intellimouse Optical) combo which I find a lot more intuitive.

Fire 1. Joybutton
Reload 2. "
activ. attachm. 3. "
toggle run 4. "
forward/backard Joy Y-achse
Left/right Joy X-Achse
Lean left/ight Joy Z-Achse (with the help of a shareware tool)
jump cooliehat up
duck cooliehat down
strafe left/right cooliehat left/right

alter. Fire mouse1
switch weaponmode mouse2
grab/use mouse3
toggle prone mouse4
voice menu mouse5
naxt/prev weapon mousewheel
freelook mouseaxis

Takes a while to get used to but is quite effective once you are... ;)

Mines VERY similar to Lord Pescados.

only I have

C - Reload
Z - Drop Weapon
X - quick action
No prone key (I just double-tap forwards or backwards and use duck to get up)
R - Open doors
space = jump

w-s-a-d is pretty much the standard FPS setup - although some prefer e-d-s-f as there are more keys around it to bind to other stuff. I just find wsad more comfy.

I was thinking I've some pedals of my steeringwheel... can I use them as extra keys? or is there anything in INF which can use the 'gaspedal' function?

I find that binding keys around num pad seem to work best in most FPSs. That way, you don't need to worry about looking for the keys with the right characters on it to perform certain actions. So I only use the right-hand side of the keyboard.

hmm

I find keeping the keys all around the far left of keyboard helps me out.

fire - left mouse
secondary fire - right mouse
jump middle mouse
move foreward - w
move backward - s
strafe left - a
strafe right - d
change weapon mode - x
activate attachment - left alt
quick action - z
grab - g
reload - r
lean left - q
lean right - e
crouch (hold) - shift
prone (toggle) - Capslock
run - left ctrl
drop ammo - c
drop gun - h

command keys
page up - attack
page down - engage according o.p.s
Home - defend
end - hold up
insert - I need some back up
delete - I need some back up NOW!
[ - watch your fire
] - affermative
; - man down
' - move!

etc. i find that adding these keys can be quite helpful for communicating and coordinating during the battle.

No Inf solution, but works as well:

Go here (http://www.ralf-biedermann.de/prod05.html) and load down rbjoy 3.0 (only 50Kb)
This is a tool that lets you redirect joystick actions (I think pedals as well) to keyboard/mouse. (mimics keypresses)
Really saves my ass with my unconventional setup... ;)

fire: left mouse

My keyboard is compact so i can do the reload/throw weapon thing. otherwise i dunno what i'd bind them to. prob pagedown and right arrow.

those are all the buttons i use.

I personaly use the numpad for voice commands. I use arrow key for movement left mouse fire, right mouse jump. I have all the other important keys on the right side also except grab is G
