GameSpyDaily: Can you give us a brief outline of the prime features of the nForce, and how they will improve gaming?
Bryan: There are a number of improvements. First off, the entire system architecture has been designed from the ground up to improve overall system performance, increase memory efficiency and bandwidth, and reduce overall system bottlenecks or latencies. The technical innovations that help do this are our TwinBank Memory Architecture, a balanced system design, a single-step arbitration process, and the use of HyperTransport. In addition, the key difference in our architecture is the use of platform processors to help reduce the load on the CPU. Because the IGP and MCP both offload processing from the CPU, system performance is increased. Also, the inclusion of killer graphics, the GeForce2, and killer audio, in the form of the APU (the same audio found on the Xbox), are a definite boon to gamers who expect cutting-edge performance and features. The Dolby Digital Interactive Content Encoder is very cool too, allowing users to play games and encode the audio into Dolby Digital 5.1 and then output the audio to their home theater set-up. This is all done in real-time, with no hit in performance. Finally, StreamThru, our isochronous data transport system, will also help improve online gaming by providing advanced packet control and data transfers.
