I just had a quick spin on the new HL mod Global Warfare (basicaly CS with more bells and whistles), one of the first things I noticed was the ability of one of the player classes to plant mines.

How about implementing some sort of mine or trip wire booby trap in INF? The last FPS's I remeber anything similar in were Duke Nukem and the original HL where you had those laser trip mines and they were great fun to use. It really made you pause before went running round any corners knowing you might run headlong into a trap and get tranformed into a rather sticky mess.

Any thoughts?

i seem to remember infiltration planning mines.
But i don't think you would go around planting them... it would take too much time to bury them ect.
There may be maps with minefields however... i guess you can use them as shortcuts if you are crazy enough.

There are already mines in INF. Just play Extreme Prejudice offline for awhile and you will find them.

The mine on EP were a bit of a surprise when I first 'found' them, but on the issue of mines, booby-traps etc, they would be a bad idea because of the enormous amount of TK's that would occur acidentaly, but having more maps with minefields would be good.

It will reduce the rambo style for sure !

Looks like only few here played INF for Unreal.

There were already mines in INF, a Claymore(which usually caused my PC to crash) and a 'Bouncing Betty', which used to win whole rounds in Standoff for me.

With Unreal-AI INF was much easier, though a bit less fun. But I really liked to place all the mines on important locations, usually two on one place, since one didn't kill. When I heard a 'BOOOOOM' I knew one more had died.

Ah, the good old times, when the M16A2 had full auto(YES it had..) and the DE was far from In-Game..

However, some BBs or claymores to be set up by the player, or some APERS mines for mappers might add to the game..

Ahhhhhh.... The memories.... Is it me, or did the mp5 shoot faster then?

Must be you, I've got the impression it fired slower, and I even went through the Unreal campaign with INF weapons - just had to spawn some ammo every level..

maybe it did fire faster... ROF is also tied to your FPS... so drop in FPS is drop in ROF.
