Finally some political news I don't have to complain about. John Shadegg, Representative of the 4th district of Arizona, now has 26 cosponsers for the Enumerated Powers Act. This act would make it law that all pieces of federal legislation include in them a reference to where in the Constitution the authority to pass the law is given. If this were to get passed (and it has been defeated for three years already) it would mean a near complete end to unconstitutional laws, elite statist laws, and nanny-stater legislation (can you say gun control?). E-mail your representatives and tell them to vote for HR175, the Enumerated Powers Act!

A damn good start, but unfortinately most of the statist and fascist crap done by our government is done by executive order and by judicial activism.

I don't intend to rehash the many long drawn out debates we've had on gun controll in these fourms, but I'd like to point out that most of the people you don't want to have a firearm are not going to let something like gun control stop them from getting guns...gun control will only prevent YOU from being able to obtain the most effective means of defending yourself from the "armed lunatics".
Ann Coulter said it quite well in an article that showed up in George Magazine...
Guns are our friends, because in a world without guns I'm what is known as prey. Almost all females are. Any male -- even the sickliest 98-pound weakling -- could overpower me in a contest of brute force against brute force. For some reason, I'm always asked whether I wouldn't prefer a world without guns. No, I'd prefer a world in which everyone is armed, even the criminals who mean to cause me harm. Then I'd at least have a fighting chance.

Oh I believe you, I was just stating my opinion, I think its fine that people have guns, but don't use the term, if others have them I need one, thet's just arrogance. I think its fine that people have guns, but seriously... there is allot to it, I mean I do live in LA, I know the gun factors, so Im not hearing some hick from Iowa talk about how he should have a gun, and why its his right, but I think more of the ignorant people WITH the guns, regardless if they don't want to believe it, that is why law was invented in the first place, to keep people like I know from having them, or just the mer thought of punishment for using them the wrong way to them. Plain and simple If you have a gun, someone else doesn't have a gun your not the lower power, and all law is meant to be ,is against you. I mean thats what there for, killing, killing things, it common sense, but wtf you need one for exactly? what do people like us need one for exactly? we in a war, no what people like "us" and I use the term lightly, what "we" need guns for is other "we's" , that is what the law is stating, and that in itself is what isn't right, somehow people misread that as, oh I can't have one because I want to..,what do I not have the same rights as the next man..., its not that, its the point thats been stretched, and completely missed for that matter, that is where majorities like "we" fall into place, under that understanding. Comes down to I dont want some dumbass kid who thinks he's bad cause he gots a gun and decides to shoot my friend, well no gun, no stupid kid, no killing, thats how they see it. If your not going to do that to begin with then that is ok, but its the mindstate of what if. And I wouldn't give a dumbass a gun just because he feels its his right, what type of backwards stupidity is that?
People can sing to me all day long about how we should be allowed to have guns just because I like them, yeah I agree we should have guns, just not the person telling me.
Take this for example just in case you think I'm stupid, I see things how they are plain and simple, truth hurts but others see truth in different ways, I know this, you walking talking proof, but if a mouse loves cheese, cant stand to live with out cheese, thinks its his right to have cheese, he's not going to believe its wrong to have cheese...thats all I was saying. If we never had people to push there rights then we wouldn't have to worry about "lunitics" cause the person standing next to you in the fight, is the lunitic, sad but true. its a dead topic just because it is to late, its already been done, "oh no we dont like it now, lets fix it" thats all it is man.

My point is that if guns were illegal, that wouldn't stop stupid kid from getting one. Drugs are illegal, and I'll bet stupid kid has plenty of crack. Someone who is willing to commit murder isn't going to stop and say to themselves "no, I'm not going to commit this murder unless I can legaly buy the gun".
My whole point is that the damage done to society by taking guns from the law abiding in the hopes that fewer guns will end up in the hands of criminals far outweighs the damage done by allowing the law abiding to own and carry whatever the hell they want.

Im so damn tired of the "Guns are only made to kill stuff" argument.
Guns dont kill people, people kill people, and the people who wants to kill people will either get an illegal gun, or use thir car or a kitchen knife.
Guess what, criminals dont abide the law, and if they are willing to break one law by killing someone, they wont mind breaking any law keeping them from having a gun either.
And then theres the "but what the hell do we everyday people even need them for, theres no war" argument.
Im willing to say right here and now, not giving a damn wheather its discriminating or not, that anyone saying that has NEVER been in a life or death situation including violence.
This world is full of sick people, and i have had the displeasure of seeing quite a few of them.
We everyday people need them for saving ouer own, or someone elses life if the shit goes down, the cops are no security, more often than not, they are 30mins away, and they only come if someone calls them, and i have yet to meet a would be killer that was willing to let a victim call for help.
Further more, they are our protection against a currupt government, and i know many thinks that just sounds paranoid, but i live in a country where civil war could easilly break out durring the next 10 years, and im not laughing!

dude see the part were I , just see the whole freaking part... I'm explaining people like you. I unlike probably everyone in this forum, have been shot, shot at, hit in the back of the leg and my right hand after piercing my stomach.
so don't try to tell me what you think you know, because honestly I couldn't care less, you think you will be ready for whatever comes to you, but it is a whole other world weather you believe it or not..sitting behind a comp, I know how the mind wonders and thinks, so I give you that. Its a 3rd world.
Its the route you take that will seal your fate. Unfortunately I have no pity for ignorant people so I will just take your words in, I like opinions, but at the same time they prove points to myself, just makes me the better man.

I for one don't own a gun because I'm planning on killing someone some day, I own a gun because I like to shoot targets. Plain and simple.
Guns are fun as hell to shoot.
Maybe I'm biased because I was born and raised in Virginia and my dad took me out shooting when I was very young (I remember shooting his .22magnum revolver when I was like 5 or 6).
I've had a great respect for firearms all my life.
I have even been shot before, and that didn't make me lose any respect for them at all (although I lost alot of respect for the dumb ass that was holding the jammed weapon and didn't know how to unjam it properly).
Guns are dangerous, but like Goat said, people are even more dangerous, if someone wants to kill another person they are gonna do it any way they can.

Just saw your last post Pro
I unlike probably everyone in this forum, have been shot, shot at, hit in the back of the leg and my right hand after piercing my stomach.
so don't try to tell me what you think you know,
Well dude maybe you havent been around long enough but I'll tell you my story again.
I was involved in a shooting accident about 3 years ago.
Me and a few friends were out target shooting and the .25 caliber handgun a (former) friend was shooting jammed and instead of pointing the gun in a safe direction, he tried to pull the slide back and the gun discharged, shooting through his hand into my stomach about a inch and half to the right from my navel, the bullet tore about 8 holes in my intestines before lodging in my pelvis.
So don't give me the "I've been shot before, guns are bad rap".
Blame the finger not the trigger.
EDIT: fuck I'm tired and I'm going to sleep.

"I have no pity for ignorant people"
Was that directed at me?
If it was, i would like you to point out excactly where i am ignorent, because i do not see it.
I base what i say on my own personal experiances, and allso what i hear from freinds and people i trust, i dont base anything on things i hear on the news, or from second or third hand knoledge from people i dont trust.
I have been stabed, been shot at, been mugged and quite a bit more, i think i have plenty right to speak up about violence, and my opinions about it, i've been there.

I wasnt saying guns are bad cause Ive been shot, why do I even bother saying anything when everyone takes things how they want to take them, note the "probably" in the last post, you know pain, cool, Im glad, but yours was alittle bit different then mine, mine wasn't a accident, and I thought the same of guns then as I do now, they dont belong in dumbasses hands, take it how ya want, its the sad truth. This doesnt mean "your a dumbass" doesnt mean anyone DIRECTLY is a dumbass, please dont twist any words, I tell it like it is. Its how others take it thats a bitch, why bother to talk if people take it how they want to,and not the way you say or meant it.
I respect all of your opinions.
But goat if I have to explain things to you Im not bothering anymore...

Any male -- even the sickliest 98-pound weakling -- could overpower me in a contest of brute force against brute force.
Homegirl needs to take some self defense classes then, eat less HO-HO's and spend more time in the gym and less in front of the computer. I know numerous women that could lay out my 200lb ass, let alone any 98lb weakling. Gaining confidence solely from a weapon, of any kind, is beyond foolish.

put "dawg" at then end of that post and you have Eminem.
No one twisted your words.
Let me make it "plain and simple".
Guns are a part of life. People have them regardless of laws. To protect oneself, its advisable that one arms oneself.
For example. I live in Australia. Crime is high in my area of Sydney. Guns are illegal in Aust. People still get shot. Would those people have been shot if they had a gun? Probably not. Why dont these people have guns?
"Because guns don't belong in the hands of dumbasses"
Why are people dieing (sp?) every day from shootings and stabbings? Why are more and more people being mugged everyday?
"Because guns don't belong in the hands of dumbasses"
Why will most of europe one day be in a permanent police state?
"Because guns don't belong in the hands of dumbasses"
Now read this post again, and replace "dumbasses" with "general populace"
Get the drift now?

Confidence gained by a weapon, to me, is similiar to that gained by drinking alcohol, albeit a bit more deadly. Regardless, the confidence is 'false', you feel empowered because of the illussion that you have, and THAT is deadly dangerous. Unfortunately, many who have low self-esteem who want to appear powerful will use the "I have a gun, therefore I am a badass" confidence booster. That, and surround themselves with individuals who also think they are badasses because they own a gun.
