View Full Version : 'New' Gamemode: P.O.W. rescue..

How about a type of 'P.O.W.' rescue in Inf. Each team would start with 1/2 or 1/3 the team (maybe just one man) in a 'stronghold' controlled by the other team. Both teams would be trying to 'release' their teammates(a few weapons, pistols maybe, would be lying near the 'prison' for the pow's to pick up when they get out) and get back to their own base. No team could kill the pow's until they have left the stronghold, and the pow's can't shoot until they leave the stronghold(this would be for balancing reasons).
Ha! Three sentences, not counting the initial one regarding the 'idea'.

I think there are too few players for both teams to have POW's.
I think 1 team should be the POW guards (1/3rd of the server total with another 3rd as POW's and 1/3rd as rescue team.

I don't see the sense in such a game mode.
If it should be funny, you have to restrict all kind of things(i.e. POWs can't shoot until out/POWs can't be shot until out etc) which would make it unrealistic.
If you make it 'real' the only thing the POW holding side has to do is to shoot the POWs and they've won - unless you count all POWs shot by enemy team in POW camp as failure of the POW holding mission..
But somehow that reminds me too much of TO..

Why are we still suggesting game modes? EAS is supposed to combine them all anyway.

And we all know how skilled the military is at rescuing POW's. Lets name the first map in this game mode POW-INF-Somolia.

After that, the Inf mapping team can work on Inf-Iran.

Just a thought guys, I figured between all of us, we could 'tweak it' to a decent gamemode. EAS may be great when we get it, but will it be enough? Variety IS the spice of life...and I LIKE spicy food!

Hey, they could add the "kill the leader". Each team has a leader (wich is still a soldier like the rest but is not allowed to die). The rest of the team must make sure the guy don't die. The guy can fight as the rest but if he get killed, the other team just won.
I believe when a team leader get killed in the field the rest of their team need some time to regroup... Well, the can take the next guy in the chain of command but still the teammates will have a moral loss...
Hey we could even add this as a secondary objective : In eas we could have a mission to do, but we could also have a team leader to care off, if the team leader is killed in the mission, it could affect the score or give the other team a victory...
Well, the leader could get elected by the player at the beginning of the round so you could choose someone who is not likely to get killed too quickly (a skilled or experienced player)...

I really like that idea R-Force. However, would the leader be "marked" in any special way, or would he be indistinguishable from other soldiers?

he should be marked in order to make it easier for the team to tell him apart and also for the enemy, that way snipers know who to pick off rather then it devolving into regular TDM again.

The idea originally formulated (sounds good, eh) is pretty much like the Escape scenario of CS, which got dropped a few releases back. Basically the terrorist team had no real weapons, but could get some in a closeby room and had to escape from the CTs, who had to kill all of them. But since something like that was far too complicated for your average CS player (I want DUST!!!!! Me r0x0rs so 1337!!!!!) it got dropped.
Idea #2 (Kill the leader) sounds a lot like the assassination missions of CS. One guy of the CTs is the VIP and he has to get to some sort of escape zone while the terrorists try to stop him. The problem was that as VIP (determined randomely), you moved slowly, had lots of armor, but only a knife, so you had to rely on your teammates to help you and you couldn't get all that many frags. So the average CS player (see above) didn't like this too much either.
It would be great if in INF, with at least some more teamwork perhaps among its players these gamemodes could be implemented in a realistic military fashion.
Before all the other map suggestion be implemented, the mother of all rescue ops should be made: DM-INF-SongTay.
