ok, so i finally agreed with my psychotic side to release these two small-ish dm maps for beta testing. there's some glitches in bot pathing (most of them just being my laziness) but otherwise they're fairly ready...at least i'm done with them. they probably suck like no other according to anyone else. see for yourself, feedback welcome.

Eh, i like these two maps. I wouldn't call them lousy at all. They make fine 1n1 DM maps.
I'd rate Fragful heights a 7/10, it has decent layout, but the tower is not really usable, and botpathing is not perfect. This is a personal taste issue, but i don't really like the item placement in this map...
Textures are well chosen, the map is very coherent. :)
StakesHigh gets 8.5/10 IMO, it has an original atmosphere, mixes different sorts of areas, mid-open galeries, tunnels and catwalks, lighted and dark areas... it has a very particular tone, you can find your opponent if you listen, or guess where he is if you are careful :) Textures serve the theme, the only thing that may add depth to the map would be to lay a few inches of water in the central part and in the Shock/Pulse rooms (to keep it realistic i'd suggest turning the ramps into stairs)... or maybe you can do it a la KGalleon, with "wet" textures :) It would be so cool. It's not a 10 because the botpathing is not perfect again... you made it clear in the Readme tho.
Hmmm one last thing about both maps: adding some power-ups may spice the gameplay somewhat... just ensure tey are placed at two ends of maps.

i agree with practically everything you said. Fragful was sort of an experiment, i've never done a map like that and there were a lot of stuff i had to think over to get it working properly - basic things, but just stuff i had avoided doing before, like the level being surrounded by the skybox - 'twas kinda tricky to get it look even the way it is now.
as for the botpathing, it A) is sloppily done, as in most cases B) hasn't been done at all (as in some parts of StakesHigh) or C) tweaked like hell but still ain't working.
the water idea is being processed in the zodiak brainlab...
one thing didn't really get was that about powerups. you want more? there isn't a megahealth on Fragful and there isn't an Udam on Stakes (because i thought it would turn into a complete carnage with it), but everything else is there...
