Here is What Ursa Said:

It depends on what you mean by "owing" us. They managed to make the netcode playable, true. They also said they would backgrade the netcode with the improvements
they made with UT. Then, they changed their mind. I believe they lied only to keep their market active until their new product came out. Unreal is playable on the net, it
could and should be better.

They have never justified or fulfilled the "ultimate multiplayer experience" hype which appeared as marketing babble on their box. They made a committment and broke it.

There's nothing illegal about that. They have our money, we play it..some of us think they should have finished the job. There is no legal authority that is invoked in this
matter. Some of us just think we were strung along and that Epic promised to finish Unreal and didn't. They have been conspicuously un-forthcoming on this subject, and
that stinks too.

They patched the game only as long as the industry and media was watching. Now that everyone is talking about UT, they have no market or industry driven
motivation...except to make Unreal players happy. Which, let's face it, has consistently been at the bottom of their priority list. They're running a business, not a fan club.

I've been playing online since July '98,
I believe the first patch I grabbed was 2.09.

If they had Unreal's graphics and UT's netcode, they would really have something. But...we'll never know, will we?

Now here is what I said:

{OF}UrsaMajor

You know us coloradians need to stick together, but there are some things I need to say about your post.

_____________________________________________

They have never justified or fulfilled the *ultimate multiplayer experience* hype which appeared as marketing babble on their box. They made a commitment and broke it.
_____________________________________________

I have had some really amazing multi-player experiences within Unreal. You know what I guess my definition of *ultimate multiplayer experience* is a little more lax then
the rest of you. Most of you were expecting it to be soooo good, that you forget all the different variables that go into every connection to the internet. This isn't about
whether or not the Id games worked well on line. You even said it yourself *They managed to make the netcode playable, true.* Playable, as in able to go online and play.
Well, at that point you need to look at the game itself to make it the ultimate, because once it is playable, it is like all other games. Once communicating online, it is just
that, a communication program, add in the features of the game, that is where you start to get unique.

_____________________________________________

There's nothing illegal about that. They have our money, we play it..some of us think they should have finished the job. There is no legal authority that is invoked in this
matter. Some of us just think we were strung along and that Epic used to finish Unreal and didn't. They have been conspicuously un-forthcoming on this subject, and that
stinks too.
_____________________________________________

Now let me get this straight, you say that you payed money for the game, you play it (infact I have played against you). You state that they managaed to get the netcode
playable. If it is playable, then why fix it? I mean yeah it is not the best code out there, but hey it works better than Half-life.
_____________________________________________

They patched the game only as long as the industry and media was watching. Now that everyone is talking about UT, they have no market or industry driven
motivation...except to make Unreal players happy. Which, let's face it, has consistently been at the bottom of their priority list. They're running a business, not a fan club.
_____________________________________________

First to make unreal players happy. Well, that is kind of the job of UT. Everyone loves the bigger better deal, even if it isn't quite as good in their eyes. If I am wrong why
do they make sequels For movies? Did we really need a Beverly Hills Cop III, or Return of the Stepford Wives? NO, but people liked the first ones so much, why not make
the sequel. You know what I am getting at. The most important thing you stated in the above paragraph was *They're running a business, not a fan club.* Well, if they
were not running a business, they would not have to worry about getting UT out. There is overhead in any business, unless you are Headgames, and you licence
someones engine and make a 15 level modification and package it, sell it for 20 bucks and let the other company support it. Epic has sat in the hot seat for over a year,
constantly being badgered by the likes of Vengeance. If they were going to appease him to shut him up they would have by now.

These Forums, are pretty much the fan club for Unreal, this is where people come to talk about the games and get information. I like most people here. I even like EvilAsh,
even though he cannot argue his way out of a wet paper bag. He relies on posts such as yours, then comes and finds me and says *there, got you this time*. You people
are really just upset, because the FIRST game produced by epic fell short of the buzz. If you see a movie, and do not like it, do you go to the box office to get your money
back? If a boxer knocks another out after 1 minute, do you call pay-per-view and ask for your money back? Nah probably not, unless your ideal says you need to fight the
establishment. Do you go to a restaurant and always expect it to be the best meal you have ever had? Nah. you might send something back to get it fixed, but its not like
you expect a great meal every time.

One last thing.
_____________________________________________

They also said they would backgrade the netcode with the improvements they made with UT. Then, they changed their mind. I believe they lied only to keep their market
active until their new product came out. Unreal is playable on the net, it could and should be better.
_____________________________________________

If the netcode is playable online, why should they mess with it? It is not great I will be the first to say that, but it is good enough for a great many people to go online and
play. They may have said we will backwards fix Unreal with UT's netcode, but then decided not to. They have not given a reason, so why pretend to say they were being
sneaky? Conspiracy theories are all you are all chasing. You have no conclusive answer as to why it will not be patched. People have offered opinions, and ideas as to
why, all to be called idiots by Vengeance and his lap dogs. Hey you know those new Chevy Trucks that hit the market last year? They were supposed to have a lot more
features in them, when they were in the development stages. They came out and were pretty much just like all other trucks, with some improvements. Chevy Lied, they do
not get the gas milage promised. Infact the difference in yearly gas spending is over one hundred dollars. People are still buying them.

You people are crying over a game that you already got your money out of. Epic did not lie, they made a concious decision. Why make a game that is so cool, and has
great features, and then take all those features and PATCH your old over a year old product, with those feature? It defeats the purpose of the new game. Move on, if you
do not like how Unreal works, buy a game that you do. It is that easy. You are all crying about 50 dollars spent over a year ago, Unreal may not be perfect, but if I were
running Epic, I would call it done.

I agree that a nice mix of unreal and UT would be cool, but.... wait that is possible you can play unreal maps in UT

So EA, Go back to sucking on the tit of ImaWhore/Vengeance and suck my dick. Posting **** like you did below shows what a little baby you are. Hey, I just got a call
from your proctologist they found your head. I will stick to my guns on this arguement, because people fe

Cammy

Really do miss the Rock. Wonder when he'll come back, if ever. He's actually kinda fun...

Morety
4th Nov 2000, 11:53 AM
He pops in at the most unexpected moments. As far as I know he's still kicking around here and there.

I was actually reading this thread while doing some searchin earlier this week. I was thinking about changing my sig. with this one.

Rougher! Rougher! Rougher!Arrghhhhh......cheesecake...cheesecake!!!!!!

ROFLMAO

Hmmm...I think I am going to find him and bring him back here. With all the over sensitivity on this form now a days I can only image the funny threads.

L_S
4th Nov 2000, 12:12 PM
lmao! If I remember correctly me and toadwarrior were talking on ICQ about SM or some sh1t, and something about what if "cheesecake" was the keyword to use when youre partner was getting too violent with you...as you can see it would prove to be a comical situation :o And with the other comment, MRHYDE has a new job like every other week.

I've been searching around some old posts too the past couple days just for the hell of it, kinda funny what you find. And as I have been reading through my old posts, it seems like I am progressively getting dumber the longer I stay here.

BillyBadAss
4th Nov 2000, 12:15 PM
I was think that to L_S.;)

Morety
4th Nov 2000, 12:20 PM
Dumber, of just less information-oriented.

It seems people fade away from the UT board and end up in OT on occasion. It would seem dumber, as the posts are no longer serious but funny.

I dunno about dumb. Some of the crap you come up with shows some great imagination. The BJ2000? LOL.

L_S
4th Nov 2000, 12:25 PM
Sh1t, I made that whole story up, some guy already invented the thing over in Taiwan, I just copied the idea. God I'm such a phony.

Cammy
4th Nov 2000, 01:36 PM
Not dumber. Just more dirty-minded... :p

Morety
4th Nov 2000, 02:30 PM
So it's already invented? And actually in use? LOL!

Hmmm, search: mail order + product + blow job + machine

Yep Morety, made by a Taiwanese guy...I think his name was Yustoo Pidfoo. ;)

Hey L_S,

How long have you been coming to the PU forums anyways? :)

MRHYDE

Just a little longer than me... :)

Plus the rock is out there somewhere, obviously realized that his ego really doesn't make up for his small pee pee.

I always thought it was a little nozzle used for ego inflation.

Swedix
5th Nov 2000, 04:27 PM
So, where is The Rock ??
I do remember him from my very first time in here.
It was all that talk about a match between The Rock and a_nuke. Did they ever fight?
Maybe The Rock lost his ego :D
(just trying to provoke him to come back)

BillyBadAss
5th Nov 2000, 04:29 PM
You have to admit he was kind of funny in a odd sort of way.

Hey MRHYDE. So it's almost a year for you, eh? :)

hal
6th Nov 2000, 02:25 AM
Been a while for me too. I've re-registered like L_S and so many others.

As far as theRock and a_nuke...I think that they did fight and theRock whooped up on him. I don't remember the details, but I remember that a_nuke was left with nothing to boast about.

L_S
6th Nov 2000, 03:20 AM
Yeah Robo we've been coming here for more than a year (its just that we've had to reregister so the dates arent accurate) In fact, I've been coming here for a little over two years if my calculations are correct :)
