Just to have some arguments in an ongoing discussion with a friend...
In your expert opinion, what matters most ? Rate of fire or stopping power ?
This is your brain...

Balance of both. In such a situation, there simply isn't any clear cut answer.

As a sniper I'd say: none, just precision!
As a weak man I'd say: better less recoil and a better rate, than fireing one shot and falling to the ground.
As Snakeye I'd say: When you need a gun, you'll never have the right one, so don't bother with such questions. You'll surely have the wrong gun, with the wrong ammo at the wrong moment.
e.g. 9mm JHP subsonic with A M9 without silencer as you compete against a M2 Bradley.
e.g. .50 SLAP with a M2 Browning, when you need a little firearm to hide under your jacket..
could give some more, but if you read that far you're already bored, and I don't want you to commit suicide..
anything you do can get you killed, including doing nothing
