i will be moving to a town were they have an outdoor paintball arena, but im not sure if they would alow airsoft in it,and i don't know if any one where im moving has airsoft

so here is my delema:airsoft can be super cheap, but paintball is "accesable"
so i don't want to spend any amount of money for a gun that is basicly useless to me,like i can't shoot my dog with an airsoft gun  ,but paint ball renting can add up to BIG numbers

so airsoft or paintball?

its right out side the door, now testify!

as the regular paintball junkie i'll answer this.

i really doubt the field would allow an airsoft gun. their insurance might not cover it, plus if you shot the 6mm paintballs out of it youd never be able to eliminate anyone. you need atleast a quarter size splat and consecutive hits don't count. so one hit would have to make a big mark. those little balls won't do that. plus on top of that you would need a good velocity adjustment on the airsoft gun. you'd probably need it to shoot 280 fps consistantly.

paintball can be damn cheap too. learn to play with a pump gun you won't go through as much paint. get a be talon, the ca adapter and a cheap mask from walmart and you've maybe spent $90. or a stingray package i gues for as much. you'd have to get a tank though. i think paintball guns can be had for much cheaper than airsoft.

i can easily make a day out of less than $20 bucks and that includes the fees for paint and co2. co2 is generally free at most fields. it also helps to cut costs if you play with a group. paint is cheaper in bulk. the biggest cost savings i've gotten was by joining a paintball club at K-state. now i only have to pay 2bucks for field fees and can get 2000 balls for $50.

prices are in us and i don't have a clue about exchange rates so keep that in mind. references to currency size is also of course US. I've never seen a canadian quarter so i don't know how big it is.

Lord Bunker: Most AirSoft guns do shoot at roughly 275fps. You don't need to use the paint BBs either. Just use the standard 6mm plastic kind. Sure, you may not be able to prove that you hit your opponent, but if you only play with people you know and trust then that shouldn't be a problem. As for your opponent not knowing whether you hit them or not; believe me, they'll feel it (unless they're wearing several layers of clothing, that is).

Freddrick,AJ: Who needs a special arena for AirSoft? Find a nice field or park nearby and shoot to your heart's content. Just make sure that the police know what you're doing ahead of time (you might need to get a permit) or they may decide to join in the fun with real bullets. :D

For my own matches, I use a nice little abandoned farmhouse in Wisconson. It's a six hour drive from my house, so I only use it for serious games, but it's real nice. There's a run down house, a barn, a grain silo that we can use for a sniper loft, and a huge field and forest surrounding it. Of course, if the Paintball arena allows AirSoft--and most of them do, or at least have sections quartered off for that purpose--then feel free to use it.

yeah but does airsoft ever have a scenario game. to fully apreaciate paintball you really need to participate in a big game. many large fields have them during the summer. there was on recently with a turn out or over 1700 divided into 3 teams. they typically last for 24 hours sometimes longer. you can see tanks, mortors, bazookas and allkinds of stuff. it's great.

why buy an air soft gun if there is no place and or person with airsoft to use it on,but buy a paint ball gun but for more money[paintballs,co2,mantanince of the gun etc..] money ver. playability

There are plenty of AirSoft leagues and official competitions all over the U.S. There's one right here in Minnesota where I live. They hold matches every year. Several Paintball arenas in my area allow AirSoft competitions as well. You need to bring your own equipment--they don't supply it--but they'll let you play on their fields.

I don't want to turn this into a debate over which sport is better.

Paintball and AirSoft cost about the same. AirSoft will probably cost more, to tell the truth. If money is your primary concern, then go with Paintball. I tried it myself. Didn't like it much. I thought it was too messy and unrealistic (plus, most of the people I played it with were either total dumbasses with no military or tactical knowledge whatsoever, or complete assholes).

Freddrick,AJ want to buy a paint ball gun?

this is not a joke. I have a tipman 98 with a longer dye barrel a 200 round hopper and a bigger air tank the standard.
so it would come with 2 barrels and 2 tanks both diff sizes. ill let them go for 100$ or a trade?

Zundfolge that is sweet but

most fields wont let you use it looks to real at least thats why i have run in to. i asked about getting a diff brand but basically the same gun and the field i used to go to said no way.

the marine corp is using 9mm paint balls with a gun powder load in a retro fitted uper reciver on m16s. They use them to train with those are better then airsoft and far better then paintballs and they freekin hurt alot.

there's a guy makes a kit for a spyder so it looks like an mp5. there's also a viper m1. and if the field has a problem with a realistic gun the must suck.

the field i usually play on is on fort riley. it's also funded by the fort. they have a cool field that has old jeeps and trucks for bunkers.

it's pretty easy to start paintball for less than $100. my gun only cost me $70. about the cheapest place i've everfound for paintball gear is www.888paintball.com
