View Full Version : The first Game I ever played on my first PC

Firstly, my first PC was a rip-snorting 286 with 4 mb of ram and my sound card was called the Aztec Sound Pro or something like that, I also had
an awesome black and white monitor (who needs color anyway?). Boy I loved that machine, I thought it was the hottest thing since the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The first game I ever played would have had to be Zork, the text adventure game about a white house with an ajar window, and grue in the attic :) Sorry to all who don't know what I'm talking about.
But probably my favorite game was Commander Keen, I'm just curious did anyone here play commander keen? That was a cool game for its time, even though it was sidescrolling and very pixelated. That game was very addictive for me.
You can download any of the Commander Keen series for free now at Apogee Games (http://www.apogee1.com/games.html)
But why anyone would want to is beyond me when their are games like UT and Infiltration out there :)

I broke my gaming cherry on Zork also. I miss the simpler days sometimes.

I think my first IBM PC game was the DOOM shareware, I organized that one shortly before I actually got the comp. It was new at that time and ran like hell on my 486 DX2-66.
But I already had several years gaming experience with the good old Amiga500.

First game I played on a PC was either Commander Keen or Wolfenstien 3D. I remember playing both on my first PC. I still have it in my basement and it still works.

The first one I played was blackjack on a computer that maybe had one meg of ram, maybe. This thing could barely handle a word processing prog.
I got a 486 with 4 megs of ram when pentium had just come out and I think one of the first games I played on it was the 7th Guest. I played the Zork text games among others a lot on my other computer and I still have em somewhere, like 40 of em. My fav was this one where you played a detective and had to gain entrance to this house during a party. This girl would always say she would meet you in the foyer. I used to go to my room and rape the butler for a laugh. He would smack me. :D
