I stumbled across this picture of an AKMSU at http://members.nbci.com/russian_arms/index2.htm , it doesn't quite look like the one in INF, but then im no expert (in fact complete opposite)

Looks like the one in the game, but I've never noticed the front handel bit before.

Well, the one in INF is considered an SMG. They have it listed as An assault rifle.

Almost looks like the AKSMU in INF is actualy an AKS-74U.

I'd like to hear Gryphon or Shakken comment on this one, I imagine they can clear this whole thing up.

well the inf gun is based on the bulgarian krinkov, so it might not be a 'standard' akmsu, or maybe someone just screwed up...

In the armory it says their are over 1.4 million variants of the AK.

The 100 round mag looks so goofy, cracks me up!

I doubt there's that many actual variants. It probably meant to say that there were 1.4 million AK's worldwide, but even that figure is way off. Try more like 60 million.

The gun in question is indeed an AKMSU by definition. It's a short-barrelled AKM with a folding stock. However I've never seen it as a standard anywhere; Russian forces are using the AKS-74U almost exclusively. Lost is correct in that the Inf AKMSU is based on the Bulgarian model, which uses the AKS-74U's folding stock rather than this particular one with the AKM underfolder. Aside from the stock and handguard however, it's basically a rechambered AKS-74U.
