Someone, I don't remember who, Cliff Bleszinsky maybe, prophecized that one day Level editors would become as fully-featured as 3D modeling programs. UnrealEd takes a step towards that ^_^. But damn I hate getting used to a new interface.

The new interface is nice, just that the window space is small, which I don't like. I wish there was a skew option still... >:P

So, how is the new UnrealEd? Is it any easier to use than the old? I haven't given it a try yet, so I was wondering if it is worth making the switch, considering I have to get used to doing things differently.

Ive just (finaly) switched over to Ued from WC (4yrs worth of WC) so I keep accidently using WC commands etc. While im fresh to Ued would u suggest me going to Ued2?
And where can I find it?
(only cos me is too lazy to look, and I know you all just love answering my real dumbass questions.)

Ued 2 is part of the 420 patch for UT. SO patch UT and you get Ued 2 :)

There's no point of UED 1.0, but you can get it off of the unreal tournament second disk!

I know most ppl don't do this, but if you stop and read the text before d/ling the patch it will say if you are someone who edits it's a good idea to back up your system folder so you don't lose the original unrealed, but then really who ever reads that crap anyway.

UnrealEd 2 problems breakdown (= HELP!!! )
1- Surface properties window doesnt show up, what actually happens is that all windows open take the name "Surface Properties (x selected)"
2- actor browser window is empty
if i cant fix these... then so much for UnrealEd 2.

Did the ability to view your paths disappear with 2.0?

and to all the smart users which have backed up their System directory: you can run the old Unrealed still without replacing the 420 System. Then you can do like I decided to do: all modeling and stuff is done in UnrealEd2 then to add actors and surface properties you use UnrealEd 1. or just wholly use UnrealEd 1, for all I care! :)

Hmm, actor class browser works perfectly for me..
The surface property window *works* but it can get screwed up.. like it will get stuck on the "stats" tab and the only way to get it off is to click a bunch of times randomly on the tabs, and eventually it will work right..
I am still new to unreal editing period, so I can place pathnodes, but is there a way to view the actual paths?? (i see the apples, but can you see connecting lines or something?)
Sorry for my stupid questions =/

resetting the builder brush doesnt work for me. I'll reset all, then elongate the brush and try to rotate, but it skews instead of proportionately rotates...

Bugs breakdown:
-Surface Properties window: works for some people only
-Actor Browser: works for some people only
okay, before I submit anything to Epic, I'd like to compile a few stats... All those who care about seeing UnrealEd 2.0 go 2.1 with major errors corrected, please reply...
1- OS (win 95/98/NT) version + build # (dont exactly know where to find, but you can see it in UnrealEd 1's log window)
2- Processor + Clock speed
3- RAM memory
4- DirectX version (precise one seen in DirectX Diagnosis usually in Program Files)
5- Description of the UnrealEd2 Problem
6- any other info you deem necessary
I'm no Epic technician, but I guess it might help... I'll ask them if we can in any way help them with UnrealEd 2. for now all I want is to see if there are major common points between people who have the same problem

2-Pentium Pro 200
3-128 MB RAM
4-DirectX 7.0 (4.07.00.0716)
5-I get the surface properties problem, but the actor class browser works fine for me.. My worst problem though is, when UED2 loads, the area where the viewports should be are just white... So I can't edit anything :( Help!
6-ViRGE/VX 8MB + Voodoo2 12MB
PS - You now access the console from left-most button on the bottom..

i also hat the problem with a blank window when u clicked on the actor class browser but i am lucky i got 2 hard drives and for some strange reson it works fine on the other hard drive so all i can presume it is is either some thing wrong with the install of windows or the install of ut
i mean nothing has changed only my installs of the 2 so it has to be some thing to do with them!
