I just want to know, when you programmed in the Ghost cam did you intend to make it a reward for dying? Did you intend to create a strategy where one man suicides and then tells the rest of his team where the enemy is lying in ambush?? It is afterall what will happen among smart clans who are told ghosting is acceptable.

Or, did you add the ghost cam to give dead players somthing to do while waiting for the game to restart and ghosting has become something that some players are trying to push as realistic?

I think everyone here is wanting to know.

Ok this is my last opinion on it, I will continue to post this same message in the other 5 threads I have found concerning this. Please take note and tell me what you think about a solution. - no arguing -

Background Info:

1. reconnaissance: a preliminary survey to gain information; especially : an exploratory military survey of enemy territory

2. Preliminary: something that precedes or is introductory or preparatory:

Ghosting cannot be refered to as "recon" Recon is something you do first, not after the fact.

Suggestions to combat GHOSTING:

Give server admins such as myself more than one option.

1. The option to turn freeflight ghost cam off, this would allow you to follow your teammates still but not see what everyone else is doing.

2. The option to turn off teamsay after death, allow the dead players to talk openly with the rest of the players but not in teamsay. This on a server where it is not accepted to ghost would certainly bring ridicule to the people giving away positions.

3. The option to turn teamsay off after death and allow only the dead to mumble back and forth to each other.

4. The addition of tactic information. ie. information from say "headquaters" or something of that nature that is displayed upon reaching the 90sec marker, giving general but non specific information to whereabouts of remaining players(teams specific) based on map locations. example: (Headquaters): Enemy location secure: North Main st. And this too could be a server option.

Giving multiple ways for an admin to combat this would be wonderful, my server would fall somewhere in the middle with maybe one or two options on. But to each his own.
Can we all agree on some simple choices like the ones above? Admins find the nitch they like and so be it. Match rules be agreed upon between clans just like any other rules. ? ? ? ?

The Infiltration team didn't program the ghost-cam into INF. It's part of UT. They simply haven't programmed it out.

The dead will not be able to talk to the living in a future patch. Nothing is final about the spectator mode right now. Everyone keep his or her pants on.

I asked about this on the Gamespy interview and I was told that 'ghosting' was not intended, it was only meant for the dead to 'spectate' while waiting for the next round to start. There, straight from the teams' mouths. :cool:

well...it seems that alot of people like the ghost "recon" thing...and I though that maybe this could be an add on sort of feature in a future release...one of the biggest arguments is that it promotes team play...so how about adding the ability for ONE single member on each team to be a "Tactical Operations officer" of sorts...the tac ops guy could get a top down sort of view on the map...see his own team represented in some manner such as dots or something (simulating GPS location)...the enemy team could be denoted as well in some manner (simulating thermal satelite view or something like that)...this way the tac ops guy from each team could co-ordinate attacks, ambushes, etc...promote team play within each team, etc etc...perhaps the addition of a special hot keyed orders menu would be in order...and of course the tac ops guy would not be a participating combatant...just an idea and I know its not really what the ghost people want, but I think it would make co ordination as a team a bit more common...with the right graphics added to make it feel more like your an operator, this could be a really kewl feature...just a quick thought and something I personally havent seen in any mods to date...add some thoughts and additions to this as you like...thanks for reading!
