Well, some do, altho that number is very tiny...

If you get caught in some flak, don't fight back, just take in what they said and wonder if it truely does apply to you (usually they give reasons ;) ). If it does, remember that, and don't screw up again... otherwise move on ;)

Remember that all us old phuckers that have been here for a while where once newbies. But we where either the high quality kind of newbie, or we learned not to be dumbasses. :D

LordKhaine: Don't get to imflamitory. There is too much newbie bashing on EVERY forum, truth be told. We are no worse than any other...

If someone comes in with their first post and says, "What the hellz is up with the aiming in Infiltration man!? I don't get no crost hairz on my screeny, which sux!", they will certainly get flamed.

If they come in and say, "I am new to this mod, so pardon my lack of experience, but how do I aim properly? It seems the game does not use the typical crosshair, so someone let me know where I need to be on this?"

No flame needed, or deserved in the latter case, IMO. Just a friendly helping hand of an answer is required, which I thnk most on this forum will gladly give...

Yeah but by the time they do attack they are no longer newbies. By that time they are regulars...and who do they attack? The new newbies of course!

Ah my newbie days. They seem so distant in the past... Think of newbie bashing as sorting out the trash (not that newbies are trash, it's just a figure of speech) . Those who have what it takes will survive long enough to become veterans and bash newbies if they want to. :D

It's a wise person who knows the difference between free speech and cheap talk.

I not only try to put up with the newbie menace ( :D ), but I try to answer all newbie questions. I amy bash a bit in the process is the questions are dumb, but I figure I've earned the right. I've seen alot of those newbies, mature and become intelligent contributors to this forum. Welcome to the cycle of INF! ;)

I just noticed that my sig should read: "In the shadows of stupidity: they lurk. Newbies are the dolts that consume us all." Hehe!

There is an old saying, maybe by Confucis (or however the hell his name is spelled :) )

It is better to remain silent and thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

this is the best tactic for any newbie on any forum.

Lurk for a while and you will learn things, you will find that many of your questions have already been answered.

Then one day, you will have something real cool to say and you will be thought of as this cool newbie. It will make the transition from newbie to old phucker much faster and smoother.

I must agree though that some of us old phuckers need to be more patient with the new guys and not flame them (unless they really diserve it)

Well, most newbies can fall into two categories
1) Stupid
2) not stupid

The newbies in the second category dont get flamed.

heh!

my first post in this forum was not a stupid question. I simply asked for some on to tell me why i could give no voice commands in game. i could tell a bot what to do and he did it but no sound. i asked please for some help. i didnt know this feature wasnt in the current ver. i was quikly called BRAINDEAD. How quaint huh. I realize that in every field there are FNG'S and vets and its customary to give the FNG'S ****. However flaming some one for some of the things i see on these forums is pretty much bull. It may be cool in some places but definitely not in the troubleshooting section.

not me!!

to sort things out...
what is a newbie?someone with just 1 star or someone who askes a stupid question?
neither of both!!
the peeps with just 1 star /me looks at himself
don't need to be newbies, I had allready 1400 posts in another (cs) forum before I came to thisone, so I know how 'forum-life' is :)
and the one with the stupid posts...darkness, didn't you once had a post of "DIE MODSQUAD"?I believe even newbies couldn't have such a stupid post :D /me hopes that darkness doesn't load his shotgun to shoot some bullets inmy ass :p
I believe that newbies are the ones who post more then 3 stupid posts, everybody on this forum has posted stupid things!!!
and what's wrong with having newbies?don't we all want inf to become popular?we need newbies!!

/me runnes away from darkness and that HUGE rocket launcher in his hands...

Oi!

Give Darkness a break Mr. Xyrus, or whatever - he explained that he tries to answer all newbie questions. He's one of the very few members here whose posts are always worth reading, and sometimes even funny! :D

I'm with JB. When I started here, my posts were decent, but I still got some teasing and such (Your ass is grass, Xirus! :p :D). It is like a hazing, and after all, what's the military without hazing?

i said in another thread that is still sometimes feel like a newbie and i've played inf since the days of 2.1 and let me tell you i really miss classic mode.

my suggestion to all newbies would be to hang around for awhile and watch the forums. just read the posts and see whats going on. some people here can get a bit cranky in a hurry, like shakken. others are pretty mellow and others can go through phases. by watching what happens first you kind figure out whats a sore topic, who the jerks are and what not to do.

yep

Zundfolge's last psot about newbies waiting aroudn and watching what goes on in the forums in absolutely correct. That is what I did, and that is one of the reasons I was never flamed for asking a stupid question. In fact, I watched the boards for a full 2 months prior to my first post(which was when I registered as a forum member).
