Let me guess, this is your error
General Protection Fault
History.WWizardDialog:OnBack <- WWizardDialog:Advanced <- WDialog:OnInitDialog <- WWizard Dialog:OnInitDialog <- WStartupWizardLOnInitDialog <-WM_INITDIALOG <-WWindow:WndProc <- WWindow:StaticProc <-WDialog: DoModal <-ConfigUI <- InitEngine
And it only ran in windowed mode and your using a Voodoo3 or voodoo based card? Seems your not the only one having this problem. I am and so are a few others.

OK, so I pulled all the INF files and reinstalled. It let me back in in window mode. Then I noticed it was showing Direct3D instead of glide. Changed that and it opened full screen just fine. Not sure if this will help anyone else or not. Haven't gotten the error back yet so everything is good so far.

Trying to recreate the error and see if I can find out what is fixing it. Will post my findings here.

OK, well I broke it again on purpose. Tried rebooting and it still gave me the same error. Then I went ahead and opened regular UT and then closed back out. Then I was able to open the game just fine. So I was able to play it and had it full screen even. Still wasn't able to play the INF maps but it at least loaded and opened. If I try and change the game type once in, it crashes out and I go back to square one. This may help with some of your situations cause it worked for me.

I've gotten that error several times before. Try running UT through the normal icon. It'll pop up that one menu asking for what to do, and choose the Run in Normal Mode (or whatever exact wording it is). Exit UT and try out INF again. It fixed it for me.

for general protection fault error, you have to find a file named running.ini in your UT folder. delete it, and you are done. For the "can't find file for package Logo" error, you can either make a full UT install or copy Logo.utx from UT CD to your UT\textures folder. It's likely you'll be having more errors about files missing. If that's your case, copy the corresponding .utx files from the UT CD to your UT\textures folder.
Hope this helps everybody
still no sig.. when i figure out one i like, this crap will go out :D
