Can't launch UT since installed Inf V2.8x

Yesterday I wanted to have some oldschool deathmatch in "normal" UT.
Problem was, that it didn't start.
The intro launched correctly, but when I pressed "ESC" it just hung up. I can exit UT with "ALT+STRG+DEL" but I did not even start in safe mode.
I looked in the UT-log and found, that UT can not find some inf-things.

Had anyone else this problem ?

If you start UT after that you probably get the option for 'safe mode' ? If not use the shortcut for the safe-mode.

UT then shows you a menu (among the items is Change videomode).
One of the items allows you to reset the config-file used by UT.

AFAIK that seemed to fix the problem for me...
