Sound Problems

Whenever I start a new game of UT in any mode or mod there seems to be no sound, however after about two minutes the sound comes back on? At first I thought it was my speakers, but then I used my headphones and still the same sound delay. It seems that I may have a faulty sound output socket? And/or there is something wrong with my soundcard? By the way it only happens when I start a new game anything to do with UT.
