what should I do to get the bots to play more realistically?
I use bots mainly because I run on a slow-@$$ modem connection that makes online impossible.

here are the most aggravating problems:

1. They rarely fight standup battles. In fact half their bot on bot kills are very accidental (to bots bumped into each other and proceded to shotgun each other), scaling the difficulty just makes them deadly accurate.

2. They don't listen to my orders and when they do they execute them poorly.

3. on maps like CTF-November, they like to lemming down the hole in the blue flag room. (funny but hardly helpful)

4. How do I change their loadout? They usually use the wrong weapons for the map. Shotguns in ranged battles and explosives in close quarters. I am getting sick and tired of being peppered to death while trying to get to cover.

oh and BTW if you want to use Tac-ops maps and Strike force maps just rename them to
DM-<mapname>. beware though their pathing is spotty at best.

to make one loadout for an entire team to use, just name the loadout after the team color, for example, the loadout you want the red team to use just name "Red"

to create individual loadouts for bots, just name the loadout after the bot. ex: i want Stupidbot1 to use a specific loadout, so i name a loadout "Stupidbot1"

this will probably change in 2.85 to hopefully some type of bot configuration menu system

1. there are numerous threads in the general forum about tweaking bots. do a search.

2. same here. bots are dumb.

3. same for me. no known solution. map is pathed for UT bots, not INF.

my settings before i removed the contents of my drive. i had difficulty to godlike, base skill set at max, accuracy to max, and alertness to max. i left camping and strafing at default so they would have some variety. then i set all combat styles to cautious.

if they're not fighting for you try setting them to beserk. that'll make them assert themselves.

And that, my friend, is why they have the distance fuse on the grenade launchers. ;)

the funny thing is.. with their alertness set to minimum, somehow they can hear your m16 fire from the floor of EP when i use fly to go to the topmost of the map and gave me a headshot in one shot.. Surely Inf guys are athletes (running 100m in 9s) but they also have supernatural hearings! :D

true, i hardly play above adept because bots get cheap. even been headshoted by a 9mm from 300m? great shot, yes, but several times in a row?

just shoot me already.
