Why don't people read posts called ***READ BEFORE POSTING PROBLEMS*** before posting problems?

He did help, press the link he provided, find £13 and press the link that gives u, it should be simple, even for a n00b.

What did u figure anyways Arcrist, that we for some reason would actualy want to help u after u ****ing put down one of the good people that helps making ouer lifes easier?

Hell **** no!

God damn, he asked a simple question, one i cant help pondering over aswell, how the hell can people be daft enough to post without seeing a thread called "***READ BEFORE POSTING PROBLEMS***", its allways only a few lines down, and how the hell u can get mad at him over youre own ****ing stupidity is simply beond me.

Now dont get me wrong here, im not mad at MoNkY HeLL.
U on the other hand Arcrist, is what will ultimatly bring about the end of humanity, god i hope u never spawn anything.

Maybe it's just me, but I have gotten into the habit of checking forums to see if anyone has had a similiar problem BEFORE posting my question. I do this for ALL of the games that I play, not just Inf. It saves time(usually) and 9 times out of 10 someone else has had the same problem and has gotten a solution, all you have to do is look. I did think that Arcrist started his 'career' in the Inf site on a bad note, Sublime IS helping, he took the time to start that topic listing most(I believe) of the common problems that may happe with Inf. C'mon guys, look a little before asking for help. ;)

I am the Walrus, koo koo kachoo.
Why do people insist on putting their 'two cents' in when they don't have a penny to spare?

Arcrist, as it appears you have such limited mental capacity that following a link is too much for you I will make this simple and use very small words. Please forgive me for using anything above 2 syllables that confuses you.

I noticed a while back that the same questions were posted over and over and over about problems with Infiltration. I decided to make a thread that contained all of the most common ones as it appeared that people are too lazy to read the titles of the posts for the day and see if their problem has already been posted and answered, much less use the handy search feature. People contributed to the thread and it was good (thank you phatcat, Goat ****er, Steel, Lord Bunker, BA Baracus, Wiseass, and anyone else I missed).

The trouble was, despite a title that was obvious to anyone with a mental capacity higher than the mud I scraped off of my shoes last night, people still ask the same questions, over and over. Kind people have referenced a number on the thread somewhere around 100 times, which means there have been at least 100 times where people have not bothered to read the post initially. The only thing it seems to be good for is referencing, but you have disproven that one as well. I gave a link, referencing the solution to your problem, and yet you still don't get it.

Perhaps I should make the topic reach out, grab you by the testicles, and squeeze until you read it. Anyone know the HTML tag for that?

Forgive my bitterness at the moment, but if you don't wish to help yourself, then I don't wish to help you either. So far, myself and others in this forum have done everything short of driving to someone's house and fixing their problem for them. It's time for you to take some initiative and help yourself a bit.

Sublime I followed your instructions and I appreciate them. I found the post out of this thread which specifically addressed the same problem I was having.

Something for your consideration, this problem happens to folks trying to load the game for the first time. The fact that people care enough to persue this mod despite upfront problems only speaks to our interest and I would suggest n00b posts not be met with such hostility. Granted, perhaps more investigation should have been done intially but in all honesty I did not recognize the link in your post at first glance. Your turse response to was one of the first posts I have seen in the INF forums. Yes I am a n00b to Infiltration but a vet in UT. My first foray into the Infiltration community results in hopes you post is more the evidence of your frustration rather that an insight into the type of interactions that are common in this community.

With that said, thanks again for your exhaustive post to common problems. I would suggest these be included in the manuals as they are extremely helpful. The manuals are the first place most poeple look and your work should be included.

Thanks again for the info.

My post was specifically aimed at Arcrist and his attitude. Would a response such as the one he gave make you want to help him or others like him? If so then you are a better man than I. I made the initial post to the "Read Before Posting" thread on January 9th and have added to it several times since then, often on the advice of fellow helpers in this forum. Yet despite all of that, the same questions remain asked daily. This, in and of itself, does not frustrate me nearly as much, however, as does the attitude that often accompanies it.

Like phatcat said in the second post of that thread:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>also if you are asking for help, or suggesting something, make sure to watch you tone. we want to hear your suggeston, or you question. not how much *insert persons name* suxs, or how much *INF feature* suxs it just drowns out your message in flames and personal attacks!
so, be nice, be smart, and we will be glad to have you!
and as Goat****er said in the subsequent one:

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Also, please spare a thought to the person who will reply to youre post, sometimes, seeing that angry red guy pop up everywhere can be quite demoralising.
We all know how frustrating i is to have something not work, but using a polite tone, and replacing the pissed red dude with the sad blue one will make the responding regular fell that he/she isent just frowing bacon to pigs.
Sometimes i feel reluctand to reply to angry posts, and im sure im not alone in that.
So hit two flyes with one stone, and put some politeness into youre posts.
It's those who attack with their questions that invoke and provoke my ire. As if the world owes it to them. We do the best we can around here to help and many times we are met with derogatory or desparaging comments from those who asked for our assistance. People have actually complained when their pleas for help went unanswered for 5 whole hours. How dare we leave the troubleshooting forum for that long!

So yes, I do speak out of frustration, but that frustration has been building for a while. I can not promise that my next response to an indolent and insolent n00b will be any less vitriolic, but I do promise to help all those that I can, especially if they make some effort to help themselves first, and barring that, at least make an effort to be polite.

I make dead people.

And for what it's worth, it's not my work, but the work of several people all trying to help out those who need it. But yes, I agree that it should be in the manual (http://www.planetunreal.com/infiltration/manual) (that most fail to read) or at least the bugs & fixes (http://www.planetunreal.com/infiltration/bugs.htm) section.
