Don't give me any (*@@@ like, "Oh your memery is too low" or "its not set right" or "the soldier file is in your folder" or "you must not have installed or unstuffed it right" or "you don't have the right version" crap. i've tried everything suggested by everyone. i've spent 2 days trying to figure it out. i've spent 2 days reading tons of "suggestions" and none of them work. so guess what? my launcher isn't making a "bleep" noise and its not giving me any errors. its just BLINKING ONCE. then not doing anything. don't think i'm posting all of these messages for my own health. tell you the truth, this sucks. i've never even used a freaken' message board before. but after these two day i feel like a pro. can somebody figure out my problem? or at least give me something more then "memory" or installing it wrong or some soldier file. maybe its just my mac. i'm losing faith here. all the pc people seem to be having no probs. this sucks.

You talk **** to all of the people who tried to help you by mocking the plethora of helpful suggestions that have worked for many in the past and expect people to jump at the chance to help you more? Maybe this forum has made me a tad more cynical than I used to be, but your attitude makes me want to walk away without even looking at your problem. I understand your frustration, but speaking the way you did to those who took the time to help you isn't going to solve your problem any faster. In all likelyhood it will just delay any other possible solutions that might come for you.
That said, have you tried a complete reinstall of infiltration? A partial or corrupted install could cause your problem.

I'll have to side with Sublime on this one, although not being a mac user and having been in this forum long enough I notice that there isn't alot of Mac users here period. I'm not looking to start a debate over macs vs. pcs but I wouldn't expect a solution to come about as quick as some of us PC users have. To be honest if I had access to a mac that could/would run UT/INF I'd try it to better help anyone here. Often times I've removed and re-installed my own UT and INF add on just to see if I could duplicate what alot of other posters here have. I would tone it down a bit and just grin and bear it until we(or another mac user) can come up with a solution..

Check your Attitiude at the door. BA Barucus has been trying to help you from the very beginning. I have also put in my 2 cents and for the most part the problem you have described sounds just like others that have been fixed in certain ways. So we pointed you there. Now it didn't work so through a fit.
Piss off then. You say you haven't been posting this for you health. Well I doubt people like BA are doing it for theirs. He's been trying to help you in his free time. He just some guy. And because it didn't work you have the right to catch 'tude. You got some nerve.
And as for the PC people they are having problems to. Read the fourm you'll see things about GPFs, blank screens, errors on run. This sort of thing happens. But getting all upset at the people who are trying to help you is what really sucks.
Now that I got that off my chest lets start again 'tude free.
As a Mac user of INF I can say that from your descriptions it still sounds like the insufficent memory error. But first some questions Can you run standard UT? Did you do a full UT install? Did you patch UT to 436 before installing INF?(I know that said you did but did you check the get info to make sure.) Did you install any other mods? (While I've installed other mods into UT with INF and got it running some mods are known to cause problems.)
I would suggest walking down the standard trouble shooting path.
First Install UT. -> Run Standard UT.
Install the UT 436 patch and up the memory allocation to it. -> Run Standard UT.
Install INF 2.80 -> Run Standadr UT first, then quit it then run INF with it's launcher.
Install INF Map pack ->Run INF and play a map. (Firing Range)
Install INF 2.81->Run INF and play a map.
Install INF 2.82->Run INF and play a map.
Now when it fails I'm guessing at the initial INF run, but after the Final Standard UT run. STOP. Let us know how far you got. If UT doesn't run at all then there is obviouly some other problem so that where we need to start.
Post your results in this thread and don't start another one. That way if some one else has the same problem later they can look here and see the problem from begining to end.
Also if you want to get the INF launcher and its ini file in a stuffit archive check out the one that I put up a little while ago. Check Here (http://homepage.mac.com/mac_fodder/)

thanks mac_fodder, glad *someone* is appreciating the help i try to give.
as for shay's problem. we've been given precious little information to go on here. what sytem do you have? how much RAM? what video card? what version of MacOS? how much RAM is free? how much allocated to UT? how did you install INF(not just "i installed it correctly") tell us exactly how you did it. does the launcher you're clicking on have the unreal "U" for an icon or just a generic document icon. etc, etc.

Sorry I freaked out like that. I guess I let it get on my nerves too much. I'm taking a chill pill from it now. Thanks for all of your help anyway.

did you even check your UT memory requirements and your Free Memory?
here's what i did on my system: i had 204.8MB free. i set my UT memory requirement to 205.5. doubleclicked the launcher, first two times it IMMEDIATELY QUIT WITH NO BEEP! just like what's happening with yours.
the weird thing comes when the third time i tried it INF launched but i had no sound and the system mouse was visible on the screen...
you said you read the suggestions, but did you actually try any of them?

I guess this hole thing is my fult :) for not checking this board for about 3 months.
Ok Shay! I will not get in to your way of asking for help because everyone else has done that I am just going to fix your problem Bro!! If you really want to fix it I would start over. Reinstall UT , Now follow this....
Follow the manual as it is but go ahead and update to the 436 patch. Also there are two other things that you are going to have
to do.
1-Open your UT system folder and look for a file called INF_iSoldier.int if it's
there delete it.
2-When you start a local game leave the game type on Infiltration DO NOT go to INF
2.8
Ok use this program http://www.maczipit.com it is called Zipit, to unzip the launcher.
Now open the program. Go to...
File/Prefrences/Compression and under Use Macbinery change to never
Now open...
File/Prefrences/Miscellaneous there is a line that says...
By default, smart-strip linefeeds from text files
Make sure this is not checked
(If you do all of this to Zipit you can also use it to unzip the umod itself)
Now open the launcher zip file with zipit. Drag the Launch only in to your UT folder. Now chose the ini file that you need. drag that in to your UT folder, rename it and your done.
Just double click on the launcher and your set.
P.S.
Disturbed posted that there is a bug with the launch. You have to have 1MB more memory then what your Prefered memory size is for UT or the launcher will not work. For example...
If your minimum is 107000 and your Prefered memory size for UT is 140000K
But you only have 140000K it will not work.
Drop the Pref size to 139000K and it will work
Hope this helps! ;)
Now you may have heared all of this from everyone else I don't know but I have sent these instructions to over a 100 Mac users that have had problems and after they followed this it worked. So give it a try and If you still have problems you can email me and we will figure it out ;)
infdragon@flashcom.net
This e-mail will be changing in about a week so If it doesn't work post here.
Do to the new release coming i will be in this board much more so if you have problem post and i will help :)
Good luck!!
