okay I read the thread OpenGl or D3D and followed a link in there to the new (old?) renderers for UT, however upon installing them I've had nothing but problems..can I go back to the old ones or does anyone have those two .dll files as I forgot to back them up (yeah I know stupid me). The game constantly freezes about 1/2 way through a match..

it's rather annoying..

thanks!

You can find both the D3ddrv.dll and OpenGLdrv.dll in the /System folder on your UT CD.

Simply copy them into your local UnrealTournament/System folder and you can rock and roll. In case you want to change the video driver that UT uses without starting up UT, open up the UnrealTournament.ini (or in case of INF the Infiltration.ini) and find this line:

[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice

Just replace the entry under GameRenderDevice with D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice. The whole line should then look like this:

GameRenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice

Or if you have a Voodoo Card, copy the GlideDrv.dll from the CD into your UnrealTournament/System folder and replace the GameRenderDevice line with this entry:

GameRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice

That's all there is to do (the new renderes do not change anything in your UT directory apart from overwriting the original .dll files)
