C4/bomb disposal

just re-read the roadmap and I think there's something missing - bomb disposal kits. We have C4's and Bouncing Bettys, but we dont have anything to deal with em. having a group member go set em off by running through the rigged area is not a good idea, its a loss of a good set of hands.

I'm not sure how the real deal works in real life, but I have been thinking about a few maps o mine where C4 and mines would really screw up the game if the attacking players cant clear them out.

In support of Galaddin's idea, why not have a "scout" - a guy carrying little weapons, low bulk items, and have him equip a bomb detector and bomb disposal kit. That way players can have a chance of getting rid of bombs that could potentialy screw up the attacking team, especially in stand-off mode.

Those unfortunately may not make it into the game.

Simply because most games last 1-5 minutes on average, setting up booby traps might prove a waste of time.

Demolitions is also a precise art. Not everyone can do it. A PETN charge for example, may not have any worthwhile effect if not placed at the vital area.

EOD(explosive ordnace disposal) is also a difficult task. Often taking hours to diffuse electronic explosives.

Infiltration is about realism. So that means we're going to do it right.

Well, of course, diffusing elementry electronic explosives is as simple as pulling the detonator from the explosive. Like CS's "clock on plastic" bomb /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

i wasnt referring to CS' bomb defuse/plant style game play. I meant booby trapping in general. Just imagine a map (assault) where the attackers have only so many ways/paths to the target. Say that these paths are tight spaces or corridors.

All you need is one defender run quickly to these areas and drop a bouncing betty or lump of C4. Now u got a major problem for the attackers. You'd have at least one dead and several wounded. This is detrimental to some of the maps I have. If the attackers are able to see bombs and avoid or dispose of them then it wouldnt be too bad.

I'm suggesting some way of getting rid of these things or some way to detect them. I dont know how you guys are implementing the bomb planting so I guess I have to wait and see.
