Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. The M16A2 is semi and burst only. Full auto was removed after the Vietnam war to prevent troops from wasting ammunition.

Sorry, but I gotta flame-
I am getting so damn tired of damb people saying to put the damn auto on the damn M16A2. The M16A2 is not a damn weapon thats any damn good for going on a damn shooting spree through the middle of a damn big group fo damn people. Its made for medium or long damn range. Obiovusly since you want a damn bayonet on the gun you are trying to use it for damn CQB, which it isn't any damn good for. So learn how to use your damn weapon the right way and we won't have to listen to such damn complaints.

What attachment are you talking about that would make the M-16 automatic?
As stated before, the US Army removed full auto after Vietnam do to a study finding that soldiers was firing 10,000 rounds for one enemy soldier hit. Replacing it with burst the soldier will have to aim, and taking better shots. The automatic weapons would be your squad automatics.i

There is a version of the M16A2 that has Semi/Auto fire, but why would you want it? Burst fire is much more superior. If fired quickly it is almost as fast as full auto, and it conserves ammo.

In the future, there will be inter-changable cams in Inf which allow anything from 7 shot bursts to full-auto capabilities.

As said before, there are full auto m16a2's available from colt. It's just that the military standard m16a2 is the 3round burst version.

I know only of the U.S. Navy Seals using the automatic M-16 version as standard issue. But then again, if you ever see them in action, everything they have is automatic.

I got a friend who was in the Marines and comes over rather often to play INF. While discussing the game, he did mention that the M16A2 is not Auto capable, though other, less common (in the military, anyway) versions do allow full Auto. We brought up how cool it would be to attach the KaBar to the M16 bayonett style, but it would interfere with the M203 attachment. He said that the standard M16 will support either the KaBar or the M203 as attachments, and there is a modification for the M16 to allow both at once. Something about the front sight supports looking like \/ instead of /\ so the KaBar handle fits between them on top of the barrel so the M203 won't have any interference (sp?) under the barrel. I'm not quite clear on the tech aspects and I'm paraphrasing, so apologies for the confusion. But, I, too, would like to see bayonetts available, if only to get the knife out of my #1 weapon slot.

The burst of a M16A2, it's rate of fire is actually a lot higher then that of a full auto M16 used previous. They upped the rate of fire so that those three rounds leave the barrel as fast as possible to get the tightest group, using the least recoil. Would like to see recoil in the M16 reduced slightly. From my brothers experience shooting it in the service. His M16 never climbed near that in burst. Firing both with and without a M203.t
The reason the m16 climbs that much in inf and not IRL is that when you justt press the fire key it's like pulling the trigger and holding the gun limply in your arms, it climbs on it's own power. In order to keep it accurate you have to pull the mouse down like IRL you'd apply counter-balance to the recoil.

Auto sucks IMO. real soldiers practise fire discipline, they don't just spray everything full auto.

Full auto is useful for keeping the enemies heads down. It's a nice feature to have because you'll never know when it's gonna save your ass.
