I found that it is by far too easy to aim on the move, not when walking but when running.
There is nearly no weapons bobbing with the weapons when in full sprint, in combination with the fact that there is no reduced strafing speed makes for some BS situations.

Like this: You are dug in behind the corner walls on Installation a guy strafes by at full speed in the distance and frags you with his super accurate m203.

It is BS, there is no way you can fire the m203 that accurate when in full sprint AND strafing.

IMO all the rifles shoudl autmatically be hipped when sprinting and bobbing should be at least twice as heavy. with smg's bobbing should increase by something like 50 procent (also hipped) and with pistols it can stay as it is now.

This is one of the things they got right in OFP. when running it is IMPOSSIBLE to hit anything further then 10m away, your gun bounces around like hell. Remember you are SPRINTING.

ok. the bobbing could be a little heavier, but it shouldn't be overdone... ;)

I agree that you should only be able to hip fire at full sprint. Bobbing is annoying though and your bouncing enough at full sprint anyway IMO.

Yup

Just look at the models when they run and aim with the mp5 or one of the assault/sniper rifles. You'd poke your eye out pulling something like that!

While you're at it, please make the breathing effect be DRASTICALLY reduced when you are prone. After all, you have a much better grip when lying down than in any other position.

I agree wholeheartedly with both of your suggestions, The_Fur. At the very least, bobbing needs to be turned way up (sorry, guys) -- when I walk, it looks like I'm just sliding forward with no vertical movement. It's currently much too easy to hit targets while on the move.

I think that the strafing speed should be reduced a lot! Try strafing right now as fast as you can while holding a gallon of milk at arms lenght. How fast can you go without falling?

how true

I too think it would be nice to see the aimed weapons go to you hip while running.
I think it would be rather impossible to run while peeping through your scope, all the while being anything close to accurate.

Not just going to the hip but a serious increase in bobbing. The grenade strafing has to stop.

Indiana. Kill me please.
Breathing should be drastically increased too. It doesn't hurt sniping in the least. And while holding your breathe, your stamina should drop.

Yes and No

We will have to stop, go prone, and take 20 seconds to get a half accurate shot, I mean, rounds would last 5 hours if you had to stop, breath, take you time to get a half decent shot, This game would be ssssoooooooo slow then, and attract all the normal UT fans that like hip shooting and running fast, and they will have the better over us.

I think the team should just increase the bobbing a bit more, I can strafe, run, and all that stuff with my heavy ass air gun up to my eyes, but it is bobby as hell.

Just do Furs idea with the 50.Cal, PSG1 and maybe the M16 with the acog nd m203 nade launcher.

Well the way OFP handles running+aiming is better, there is no way a guy in full sprint will hit anything beyond 25m or so. Hipped or aimed or whatever, so i say to the hip and tremendous bobbing of the gun.

I don't know

I kinda have to disagree with you guys on this one. There is no logical reason in the world as to why you can't run with a gun at your shoulder. It's certainly possible to do and is actually rather easy.

Currently I think it's handled pretty well. I play paintball a lot and it works basically how INF does. There aren't any major differences in aiming or movement as far as I can tell.

Just tell me what you guys think.

I agree that accuracy should seriously be dropped when sprinting. And I also think that your gun should be hipped; after all you shouldn't be able to hit much of anything anyway, right?

I was thinking about the sneaking thread that was here a while back and I got thinking about a "jog" key as well. After reading this thread I came up with something:

If you go to run with your weapon shouldered, you move at a semi-fast jog. You'd keep a nice bit of accuracy, but you definitely wouldn't be moving at a sprint. In order to sprint, you have to drop the gun to your hip.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Crosshairs? We don't need no stinkin' crosshairs!

i also play paintball and move about with my weapon at up at eye level 90% of the time. its just the fastest way to get a shot if you get engaged. the onyl differnece is paintball guns dont recoil like 7.69s or 5.56 do. with practice you can hit pretty easy on the run. unless firing full auto of cource

At the very least, zooming in with a sniper rifle needs to be disabled if you do anything other than a walk. In real life, it's virtually impossible to keep your eye perfectly centered in your scope while jogging/running, and you'd prolly trip over things, too :p

Agreed

I do agree that you shouldn't be able to be zoomed in with the sniper rifle.

As far as paintball go, it really depends on the gun. I have a couple, some have terribly bad recoil that's worse than most real guns. One has no noticable recoil at all (mainly cus it's so heavy due to all my modifications). But still the difference in shot group sizes between hip firing and shoulder hiring when running just doesn't exist. The only difference is where the group is aimed. Shoulder firing should be left in. The only thing they should even consider changing imo is no zoomed movement and POSSIBLY increasing the gun waiver making it a little harder to aim while running. Just the aim for that first shot though, not the shot spread.
