View Full Version : Ued texture problems

I downloaded a couple of texture packs off the real world maps site and I can load them up in Ued and texture a map fine. The problem is that the next time I load the map ion either UT or Ued I get that default bubbly texture rather then the custom textures. All of UT's normal textures work though. Any ideas?

Maybe a silly question, but you never know :
Have you put the custom texures in your UT textures directory or opened them from another location ? They need to be in your textures subdirectory in order to be findable by UT or Ued.

Nope, they're in the textures directory. I've done everything that I can think off correctly and I've never seen this before.

Thats wierd, as I of course use those textures too. So what happens when youre in UEd? You retexture your surface, away form the default (green bubbly) texture, rebuild, and when you play the level it goes back?

This sounds like a pack not loading up, or maybe a single solitary texture, any specific ones that are problematic? What about re-dowloading (files may be corrupt) and trying again?

One more thing may be that if your transferring textures from the packs to your levelname.utx file, be sure to save it directly after you load it, or else the pack wont know its there.

I can't remember what texture pack it was from but the file is called office.utx. Its exactly as you say, its as if UT or Ued won't load it up so it defaults to the bubbly texture. One thing I found is if I load up Ued and before loading up my level if I load office.utx then when I load my level next it looks fine. But it never works in UT /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

According to what you've just told, it seems to me that your map doesn't know in wich texturepack it has to look for the textures.

What I would try (not really a solution but...) :
Load office.utx, load your level, add a new brush with a texture from office.utx that you haven't used yet (you can set the brush somewhere in the map, not viewable), rebuild your map, save it and fire up UT to check it out.
