problems accessing the inf maps with ued

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

so, i finally got the map pack (yay!) and it's every bit as good as i'd hoped, easily the best realism maps i've ever seen in UT. BUT when i try to open them in UED nothing comes up. i'll open the map and it'll just load a blank level, the same thing that happens when you load a map with a texture missing.

i installed all my inf stuff from umod to C:\UnrealTournament, thats the mod and the maps, so why can't i open them?

thanks

The textures seem to be conected with some of the INF system files, so u have to open some of thouse first, and then the textures used in the map, the textures are in a diferend folder, so Ued wont open them itself.

I dont know exactly witch U files it is [ witch is why someone who knows should reply here ASAP], but i find i can open all the INF texture files when i've opened Assets.U, decos.U, mapping.U, infadds.U and Realworld.U.

But its posible u dont have to open half of them.

All hail the PRF!

:)

thanks for that, i opened all the .u inf files and then all the textures, and that seemed to do the trick. although the AS maps still aren't opening.

thanks again,

Ooopps sorry guys...

Hi All,

Hummm, I thought there was instructions within the Inf installation files regarding what to do...

Anyway here ya go...

Open your UnrealTournament.ini file (UT & the editor use this file, so....)

Find the ini section [Core.System]

Insert the lines below ABOVE the the existing paths.

Paths=../Inf_system/*.u
Paths=../Inf_Maps/*.unr
Paths=../Inf_Textures/*.utx
Paths=../Inf_Sounds/*.uax
Paths=../Inf_Music/*.umx

This will tell the editor where to find stuff, so no need to pre-load anything at all.

WARNING: I have found that standard UT will NOT work with the above in place...

So if you wish to run standard UT then simply comment out the above lines with a ";" character.

;Paths=../Inf_system/*.u
;Paths=../Inf_Maps/*.unr
;Paths=../Inf_Textures/*.utx
;Paths=../Inf_Sounds/*.uax
;Paths=../Inf_Music/*.umx

Hope that gets you guys up and running...

err, ok thanks man, just seems a bit unusal i should have to edit the ini file every time i wanna play UT just for a mod.

after edit...

and yet extreme prejudice and terrain still won't open. ah well, thems the breaks.

Very odd....

Hi,

Sorry about the UT effect... I only play Inf and make levels for inf, so it doesn't effect me.

Well if you have those five lines ABOVE the other paths then I have no idea why EP or Terrain won't load...

Please what does your LOG file say... there is a file called Editor.log within ../system

or just View_Log from within the editor what does it say....

There will be a line which says "Load failure...

Are you sure you got the edits rights, you would have to leave the editor first then reload it... but I guess you did that... :)

You need the file tele5.u within either ../system or ../inf_system :(

But if you can run the level it most already be on your system...

Where is the Tele5.u file on your machine... ?

If by some strange freek of natural it exists in ../system then copy it to ../inf_system !

How about the terrain level... ?

yay!

that did the trick, tele5.u was in my inf-maps folder of all places, along with a bunch of other files that should have been in inf_system, i put them back in the right place and voila! all the maps work. i'm not sure how they got there as i hadn't moved them ,and used the umod for installation, instaed of doing it manually.

anyhoo, thanks for the help bastardo. btw, can't wait to see what you pull out of the new unreal tech :)
