I've been putting together a new system and I'll have benchmarks out shortly (now that I know how), but I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion on the video card and drivers I'm getting ready to use.

EPoX 8KTA3 motherboard (VIA KT133A chipset, 266FSB)
AMD T-Bird 1GHz (not overclocked)
4xAGP slot
Sound is built in.

I've got a Diamond Viper 770Ultra (32MB) that I bought last year, and the W2K OS recognized it, but I'm planning on using the Detonator3 drivers. Is there anything more recent than the W2K_650.zip that was put out in 12/2000?

What would be some of your recommendations for video cards? (try to keep to the under $200 range...)

I had originally bought a Diamond Stealth S540 32MB, then the Viper770, and finally the 3dfx Voodoo3000. Took me a while to find out that the DiamondMM boards didn't get along with my ASUS's AliAGP chipset. Setting up the EPoX board seems far easier than it was for the ASUS. :)

Yeah, I still have the Voodoo3000, but I wanted to keep that one in my ASUS PC since it is the only one I have that will work decently with it.

I use the 1220 reference drivers. They seem to work waaayyy better than the 650 drivers. You can get them at 3dchipset.com. If you're gonna spend $200, you should get a Geforce 2 Ultra. If you don't want to spend $200, you should get a Geforce 2 MX.=)

Any 3dfx card will rock in UT. You might as well forget about playing other games with it though. I payed for my Voodoo 3 thinking it was a top card. It barely works in D3D :(
