Yeah,
I like Tad Williams too. I'm waiting for Sea of Silver Light to come out in paperback so I can finish the series.
I also really enjoyed the fantasy series that starts with "The Dragonbone Chair"
-Dragonbone Chair
-Stone of Farewell
-To Green Angel Tower I
-To Green Angel Tower II
Other authors you should read (IMO);
Iain M. Banks (Consider Phlebas and Excession are amazing!)
Vernor Vinge ( A Fire Upon the Deep)
John Varley (Steel Beach and Golden Globe)

i LOVE Ian M Banks... consider phlebas is one of the most haunting books i have ever read... i can't wait to read more of him but i can never afford his books... john varley is also great, steel beach was awesome. did you read the opoiuchi (sp?) hotline? that one was good as well...

yeah, I'd have to rank Williams as one of my favorite authors, top five at least. I only buy hardcovers so I already read 4. Just something about hardcovers make them so much better than paperback. Something to do that the words are permanent against time, a real object that endures instead of simple paper.
Book four is a major treat but its depressing as you know that there will be no new other land books after it. Even Tail Chasers Song was damn cool, I susggest you read that one if you read all his others. You do know that he is working on an online only project right now, right? He only has the preface done atm but the first chapter will be up june 1st :) Its all done in 2nd person and its done extremely well. The url is this: http://shadowmarch.com

I haven't read the Ophiuchi Hotline. I've looked for it in all the new/used bookstores in my area but have never seen it. I read a good collection of Varley short stories in "Blue Champagne". If you liked Steel Beach you should pick up "Golden Globe"... same universe with Luna etc and Hildy Johnson makes an appearance also. Very very good book.
Iain M. Banks is a genius. I've read CP, Excession, Use of Weapons, Whit (not culture SF), and The Business (also not culture SF). It sucks that most of his work comes out only in Trade Paperback and is costly. I've recently been seeing some of his work in paperback tho...
Darkliege:
I'll have to look into TWs other work as well. I never see it in the bookstores. I'm going to check out that website.
